Another example of incompetence and ignorance

New Reaper perk is just abysmal. You get a 25% shorter cast time (Oooooo Aaaaaaah) and 25% shorter cooldown (Wooowy!) for the low low price of 25% shorter TP distance!

So now for the real numbers not hidden behind obfuscating percentages:

  • 1.2 seconds of standing still, down to 0.9 seconds of standing still.
  • You go from a 10 second cooldown to 7.5 seconds
  • You lose 8.75m on your teleport distance, going from 35m down to 26.5m.

What is Reaper’s greatest weakness? Distance. So why do they keep making it harder and harder to close the gap? His teleport distance has never been an issue, so it’s incredibly telling when they keep changing it like it’s going to make things better. Stop messing with the distance. It’s perfect at 35m.

And why do they keep using percentages for changes? These only make it look more impactful than it actually is. Use real numbers and hire someone who actually enjoys playing Reaper.

EDIT: As I read the perks that the other characters have gotten, my willingness to uninstall this garbage off my PC increases.

  • Zen applies discord orb to all enemies within transcendence
  • Quick melee reduces the cooldown of swift strike by 3 seconds
  • Melee hits grant 20 ammo
  • Biotic Reloader for Baptiste

and Reaper gets a perk that takes away more than it gives. Fantastic.

Soul orb exists solely for nostalgie. A simple fix would’ve been

  • Add soul orb to his already existing passive, with each giving 25hp. (Genji gets double jump and wall climb as his passive, so making it a 2 in 1 deal is fine).
  • Replace his current soul orb Perk with shadow blink.

I mean, isn’t Teleport Kills’ a legit stat for Reaper?
Who, tell me, who out there gets kills out of Teleport?? I believe I did get one once… out of 100 kills.
Maybe they meant ‘Teleport Deaths’ or something.

To be fair, Reaper is clunky as a hero, and his TP is the worst offender in thid regard.

Making it smoother and more available is nice.

The thing I hate about this perk (and the entire perks system in general) is the fact that they mess up with muscle memory.

This perk is a trade-off. It’s not a straight buff. As a reaper player who likes the smoother version of TP, you will have to start the game with the old version, then unlock the version you like mid-game.

This is why I strongly believe that perks should not be tied to farming and instead be selectable at the start of the game.

Perk system is gimmicky

More a quirk system than it is an adaptive gameplay system

Not a dealbreaker by any means, but def one of the added features I don’t like

The former OWL player that they have designing these perks has real read-the-patchnotes-and-instantly-make-a-tierlist-of-every-hero energy. They think they know how to play every hero but their balancing shows otherwise.

So many new perks but I don’t really like any, people in charge of perks are doing a poor job, they even deleted good ones like lifeweaver/mei/torbjorn/moira

If something is too popular it doesn’t mean you have to delete it my guys… you keep the popular one and you make another strong choice in the same row, just trash maybe hire real players

Its not they don’t understand reaper, but its one of those noobstomper heroes that the moment you do something “good”, becomes ultra exploitable in low ranks and people suffer A LOT.

I would do something with Life Steal, like increasing it but making the gains not instant, like overtime. Something you need to trade for a decent change.

Well reaper is already lowskill as it is, he doesn’t really need good perks.

I agree. It’s lazy and unimaginative slop that they put in because they can’t bothered to come up with something unique that actually helps solve Reaper’s issues.

Nah, replace it with something that isn’t a throw pick. Shadow blink comes at too high of a cost for barely anything in return.

Literally. I’d be max level by now if this was what it was counting towards.

At the cost of making it even shorter than it was before, which is just contradicting the whole point of it being a TP. The only reason current TP even works is because 35m is the sweet spot that allows for you stay in cover while just barely being able to TP somewhere out of LoS and listening distance.

Exactly. Every other character is getting straight buffs for their perks, meanwhile Reaper’s perks always come with some sort of penalty/cost.

For what purpose? Either give everyone buffs or give everyone perks with penalties. It’s so dumb to discriminate a select few heroes (ones’ that I’m convinced the dev team personally hate playing against/with).

I don’t know what’s worse, reworking a hero with a permanent feature for months on end that could be worthless or temporarily changing heroes with small changes, but every character gets one so the rework-needing characters don’t actually get any better because of it.

Which is exactly why I new this would happen eventually when I heard he was going to be apart of the team. The signs were there ever since that “community patch” was released.

Honestly just give him more precise mobility. It’s something that requires skill, good positioning, and game knowledge to pull off, so it wouldn’t be easily abused by lower ranks and it would provide skill expression for skilled players.

Another highly appreciated comment from a bronze player.

The ‘pros’ insist this is the way, please be understanding.

Guess again, this is GD not ranked discusssions.

That does not change the fact that you’re speaking from ignorance and stating things that only bronze players assume.

The biggest Reaper nerf was that hideous e-boy skin. Have you seen it yet? It’s going to make you want Anubis, Sassay.

No I am stating things that insult you apparently, sorry to say but the truth hurts you’re one tricking fav hero.

I agree. “Earning” perks worked ok as gimmick at first, but they really should just change them to always work like they do in Escort extra rounds from the very start of each game.

If you’re talking about the future streetwear skin he’s getting next season, I actually like that one. I like half-masks like those.

If you’re talking about the valentine’s day skin, then meh. I’m not a big fan of that one. Still, Anubis tilts me for so much more than any other skin will ever achieve.

You have no understanding of the term “skill” and you’re conflating value floor with skill floor. You’re just babbling like a child about things you don’t understand. Truth hurts.

If you don’t understand what it brings to Reaper, you shouldn’t play Reaper.
Reaper’s weakness is distance? Lol.You want him to dive very deeply and die ,don’t you?
This perks allows him to survive and do his job much more constantly .
He doesn’t need distance to TP behind the ennemy team during a fight,he needs to be able to do it faster, more often and to survive.
Are you one of these useless Reaper who go alone TPing far away with the hope of killing someone by surprise while your team lacks DPS during the fight, wondering where you are etc because you can’t play?
I hope not but you sound like it.

Yes, obviously. Obviously I want the character that I play to frequently to die… like what? Do you even know what you’re saying?

This perk adds nothing to help Reaper survive. It’s on Shadow Step, the engage ability, which isn’t going to be back up by the time you need to leave. Not only that, but it’s also made weaker because you can’t TP out of range even if you do get it off cooldown due to the reduced distance.

You didn’t think at all before you typed.

Please explain how you expect to TP to the backline during a team fight because I would love to know how you expect to survive standing in front of the entire enemy team. At 26m, you no longer have the benefit of hiding behind the team to obfuscate your position before going in.

Yes definitely, because the game is always that simple and there is no such thing as complexity.
