one has nothing to do with the other tho…
it does b/c the cheaters will move from ow1 to ow2
There will always be cheaters. Even games with amazing anti cheat systems have issues with my them all the time. Get over it.
The only issue I have is unlike other games, overwatch has yet to really put an effort towards stopping cheaters, and no cheaters have actually been banned for over a season or two now. Look at previous season t500, it has 500 people. The fact it has 500 people means none of those users were banned. If you go back more seasons, you’ll see that t500 typically has around 460~ since it has to account for the cheaters that got banned. Just an interesting little detail to share.
That you’re aware of.
They tend to ban in waves, and they tend not to talk about it so they don’t tip people off.
Cheaters are being caught and banned all the time.
Can you stop all cheaters. No. You can just make it a little harder. Maybe will OW2 there will be some kernal level system in place (like ricochet), but if it doesn’t so be it.
I’m in several of the communities there have been plenty of users going undetected for a couple years now. If there was anything being done under the hood, no one should be lasting this long.
Rare cases like that happen.
Not something to worry about.
you think it is rare? There are 5 people in Asia dps top 20 who have not been banned for seasons who have been confirmed cheating. Cases like these are not uncommon.
What’s the total number of accounts??
Whilst individual cases do look bad and need to be sorted far quicker. It’s a tiny %.
Yes I want them to do better, but I’m not going to fret about it.
The only way to slow it down properly is through the legal channels. You’ve got to stop the creators being able to make money off developing these cheats.
Having damage values being calculated server side (rather than on client) is already one way of mitigating hackers.
Of course, its not enough.
But it prevents things like manipulating damage, speed, rate of fire, ammo count, health, etc.
I used to play a game that had hacks for all of these and… hooey was it a spectacle
Also what Roku psoted here
You have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s already done that way esp in ow. 99% of overwatch cheats are already externals anyways. There’s some minor hit reg correction when ping is above 100, that’s about it though.
Overwatch already has all of these things prevented. We’re talking aimbot and walls here…
im aware. im saying all this stuff is already done in OW
itd be best if OW2 ran an anti cheat on top of what its already doing. but even then there will be people who slip past the gates.

I thought it was apparent it was implemented in OW when I said
and
In essence, I was mostly comparing what OW has to what some other games dont.
The only games that don’t have that are indie games. We’re talking about a corporation that makes millions of dollars and they have not implemented an anticheat system. I don’t care if things slip by the cracks, I understand how cheat development works. But there’s no “cracks” to slip by right now, it’s a giant ravine. There is not a real anticheat. Nothing in overwatch checks if external drivers are verified, or what they’re doing. There’s an internal crc32 check. That’s it. I feel for a multiplayer competitive game that low level of security is unacceptable. Again, it’s why many people get away with cheating in the top elos without any punishment coming for years at a time (until they get manually banned).
I don’t feel like I’m out of place for suggesting ow gets an anticheat, and I think many people are just confused because they don’t see the cheaters day to day. Play in masters for a while, there are cheating hitscans in probably one in every five or so games. In NA anyways, I’d bet money it’s worse in KR server.
Yeah, I don’t disagree
Just because I say people will slip past it doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s a good idea
