The arabic Ana “Yes” voiceline is wrong. It says “Tamam” (تمام) Which roughly means ‘ok’, ‘understood’ or ‘alright’. It doesn’t mean yes. It should be نعم and/or ايوه (Na’am, Aywa). Hopefully it gets fixed because it doesn’t make sense now.
Blizzard right now:
At LEAST 95% of the playerbase would have never noticed without google X’D This is hardly game breaking, but interesting still.
You mean comms “Yes”?
I don’t think it’s wrong given your description. I mean, I guess that depends on what you use ‘Yes’ for, but if you are answering “Group up with me”, “I need healing” or “___ wants to attack the objective”, doesn’t the way it works now make more sense?
That’s where I’m at. I don’t think it makes sense to choose the other word. But my Arabic isn’t very great. Maybe I’m missing something?
It’s not wrong and in fact it’s even better.
We already have a voiceline for that. It’s the “Acknowledged” voiceline. My idea is that maybe the move the “Tamam” voiceline there and add the actual arabic “yes” lines to replace it.
Ah, I see. I guess that makes sense.
How is it better? It literally doesn’t mean yes. It means alright. So I think it should be moved to the “Acknowledged” voiceline, that way it can still be in the game and it would make more sense to us Arabic players.
When anna does nano “when reapper in video!” (sounds like)
they never read forums. go to reddit
Maybe she just doesn’t give a crap about the question.
“There are enemies flanking left! Are you ready to heal?”
“Alright, yeah”
These are also all variations of saying “yes” in a way. I guess it really depends on the context of what you’re replying to.
I also feel like the voice actor who voices Ana would know the difference as she was born and raised in Egypt.
Yeah seriously, why isn’t it Aywa? I’m don’t speak Arabic at all, but I have heard this word so much that I do think that like Si and Oui it’s an intenationally recognizable Yes.
While they’re at it they could give her some automatic voicelines when she’s attacked like other supports have calling for help. I don’t understand why Ana doesn’t have this feature and the others do, especially since the appropriate lines are recorded and in game.
So it’s like Brigitte’s “I’m on it!” when choosing “Understand”.
its been there since like the release of the game
don’t expect them to change it
Also, i believe Ana’s Sorry voiceline is wrong as well:
She says “malish” (معليش) which, according to some of my Arabic friends means “it’s okay” or “it’s alright”.
In my arabic family, we all say the common arabic “Ehhh” instead of “yes” even when people speak english to us. LOL
I can’t find any of yes voiceline on the overwatchpedia and it was updated july 13 of this year.
One would think updated meant updated.
