Ana not a main healer anymore?

So I am a support main, with most hours on Ana and Mercy. Ive had multiple games recently where I play Ana with maybe a zen or lucio or brig as a second healer. We lose a push and my team says we need a main healer, It’s not that I was doing bad or anything but with the meta now adays you see so many zarya, hanzo, doom, junks atleast in my rank, and im trying to put out as much healing as I can and i’m not even doing that bad but even with a decent amount of healing my team still says “can we get a main healer”. In my mind Ana is a main healer and if played right she can have a super large amount of healing done in a match. But I see why people are questioning it at the moment. Ana is in need of a buff. Sure we got a few Qol changes which was nice but everything just outplays Ana at this point in time. She really needs helps still because I want her to be viable again and not someone I play for a few pushes and then have to switch off to mercy cause I cant do enough with her. She has everything in her kit to be viable and effective but with the super long cool downs, and her low survivability she can’t heal as much as she needs to heal. Unlike the other supports who all have some way to either fend of attackers or to escape ana is the only one who barely stands a chance against anyone who dives her. All she has is a nade to heal herself (and anti heal an enemy but heros like tracer and reaper etc. can just blink or wraith out of the effect) and a 12 second long cool down sleepdart that is one of the hardest abilities in the game to land consistently (especially on smaller targets like tracer and genji) Not to mentions he can’t heal through barriers or defense matrix so dva and winston just destroy her. For gods sake atleast give her a passive self heal… Idk exactly what she needs but I know Ana needs some serious help at the moment.

Ever since her first nerf she has never been a main healer.

She doesn’t have the survivability, the consistent healing, the damage. Every support does everything she does better. You only play her for biotic grenade.

she is a main healer if you nade your tanks and have good aim.
(180+ hours Ana main on 3 accounts)

u can play her like a dps - off healer if you want, and destory pharah-mercy’s xD.
I do actually do it in my lower elo account.

I’ve always heard it divided by

Main:
Ana
Mercy
Moira

Off:
Zen
Brig
Lucio

Though ana is a bit of a gray area, and now so is Moira, due to barrier interruption. That makes some people feel that “main healer” is synonymous with “mercy”

She is a main healer but requires too much effort and has none of the perks of being a main healer (passive healing or some sort of movement). Yet she’s a sniper without any of the perks (no headshots or way to personally reach higher grounds).

So her main kit is made to make her a main healer. Just as her gun’s scope/sleep dart’s aim timing is meant to make her sniper. She just doesn’t have any of the perks to make it work but has all the drawbacks to fight against her… Again… With none of the perks to outweight the drawbacks.

The only reason people play her is similar to why people played Sym 1.0/2.0. It’s not because she is a better pick over anyone else, it’s not because she is 100% viable, it’s just because she is fun. So literally the only thing keeping Nana afloat is her fun-factor. But that can only last for so long before Blizzard goes “Oops, I guess everyone was right, let’s finally give her a healer and/or sniper perk to go with her healer-sniper kit!”

Yeah, pretty much.

People play Ana because they want to, not because she’s any kind of sensible choice to win a game. She needs buffs.

Ana is a main healer in the sense that it is theoretically possible for her to toss out a high amount of HPS.

Ana is not a main healer in the sense that she can reliably put out a good amount of healing at least not at my skill level.

I always outheal Ana’s on Lucio and it’s 50/50 on Zen and 40/60 on Brig.

Yeah, you never play her do you?

This list is accurate. It is just that Ana CAN be hindered more than Mercy or Moira, when it comes to healing, but that doesn’t make her any less of a main healer. She is able to put out just as much healing as the other two main healers.

So true i never realised that

You would have to outskill the Pharah-Mercy to a shocking degree to take one out. You don’t have the damage output to do it quickly and the Pharah can kill you in two hits once she figures out where you are.

Ana’s only real role against Pharmercy is helping a more qualified teammate kill them, which is still something, but Zen would probably be more of a help.

She is a main healer, but people just want mercy, cuz she is much better and much easier to play.

Ana is a main healer, but she’s super unreliable. If I’m playing Tracer, Sombra, or Brigitte. It’s usually easier to grab health packs then it is to expect Ana to heal me midfight since 90% of the time an Ana’s aim is bad so they just spam the fat hitboxes of tanks

Honestly, it’s probably because Ana is dead, because she’s pretty much fundamentally incapable of self defense.

Which makes her more of a liability than an asset. People think of her as an off healer not because of healing output but because she needs someone to babysit her health bar like a Zenyatta or Brigitte does

As a Tank main, I’ve never preferred Ana.

In practice she doesn’t do nearly as well as Mercy.

These are potential single target figures and doesn’t include ults:

Main:

Ana ~ 98.24 - 142.36 HPS
Mercy ~ 60 HPS
Moira ~ 80 - 155 HPS

Off:

Zen ~ 30 HPS
Brig ~ 41 HPS
Lucio ~ 16.25 - 46.8 HPS

Numbers don’t mean much. The only thing that matters is how the hero performs in practice.

She can do 1000hps but if I’m not getting healed it’s meaningless.
