Ana heals herself for 15% of healing done by Biotic Rifle

Enjoy the title; since that is my buff idea that will be what Ana needs.

Not mobility, not damage; a way to use her kit for the TEAM and SUPPORT them without thinking of Me > The team

Think of Ana’s grenade as a Widowmaker headshot; The most important part of their character where they are rewarded for using it well

The problem with Ana is that she NEEDS to use it on herself to stay alive. So my solution is to give her a weaker self heal (That requires both the spreading of heals, not making her stronger in 1v1s, keep her weak to being jumped on, and rewarding her aim) that allows good Ana’s to be rewarded for the effort they put into the team

Here are some maths; and also 100% perfect situations for each hero involved

Over the course of 10 seconds;

Mercy - After one second, she heals for 20hps; She would self heal for 180 hp

Moira - Is able to live steal for 30hps; She would self heal for 300. With her orb it’s possible to solo self heal yourself for up to 600 hp in that 10 second window

Lucio - While on his healing aura, Lucio self heals for 12.5hps; he would self heal for 125 hp. With the effect of Amp, Lucio would heal himself for 192.8 hp

Zen - After not taking damage for 3 seconds, regenerates 30hps (Shield); Zen would be able to regenerate a maximum of 210 but isn’t fully able to so goes to full health

Brigitte - Inspire heals for 5 seconds, at 16hps for 80 total. It does not increase the more you hit people; 160 maximum self heal over the 10 seconds.

Ana - If Ana has 100% accuracy, and each shot heals for the max of 75, Ana is able to pull of 12 shots in 10 seconds. With the 15% received the normal max is 135hp, if 5 of the shots are boosted the number becomes 163.12hp

So with maths, it proves that even with a buff to self sustain Ana would have one of the lowest if she healed maximum health per shot with 100% accuracy

Still a weakness; but it would be FAR less punishing on Ana and free her up to be more willing to work for the team, rather than the team work for her

Nice. TBH i would be happy with a faster scope in out too. Simple things but would change the world.

Already pretty fast, and I don’t think they want Ana to be able to outsnipe a Widowmaker with quickscopes since that used the be a “problem” when Ana had 80 damage

I’d rather them focus on what is holding Ana back, her biggest flaw, and go from there if things are needed elsewhere for ease of play (Like the shoot through teammates, and the suggested Nanoboost change)

The problem with this is that it’s too powerful in Tank heavy comps, and too weak in DPS comps.

Would be easier that if she does any healing, she gets # amount of regen for # seconds afterwards.

Ana has self healing with her flask, if you’re desperate get your secondary healer to help you / your team which should be nearby anyways

Ana’s grenade is like a Widowmaker’s headshot

It is the most important part of her kit; the entire reason she is worth a pick

Imagine if you had a Widowmaker who never got a single kill, never landed a headshot. You would be pretty upset about having that person on your team

Now imagine if they COULD do it; but were unable to because they needed to always to worry about THEM before the TEAM

That’s the problem with Ana

She, as a longer range healer, also already takes a LOT of resources away from the second support. There’s no one else that isn’t single target that would cover Ana’s huge flaw of Me > Team

This wasn’t a problem when Lucio’s aura was 30 metres

Wow, a change that I can get behind. 15% isn’t a massive number but it’s enough to top her off if she gets slightly pressured from range. It wouldn’t make her impossible to kill if you get the jump on her either.

I like this idea. Maths is not my strong suit so i’ll trust you on 15% being a good number. The idea of Ana having some slight self heal without having to use an ability is a great one IMO.

This is one of the main reasons i like this buff. Ana can defend herself pretty well when she has her abilities available and health back from healing won’t help her because she can’t afford to ignore an attacker. But because she’ll be able to heal in between attacks while still supporting with her grenade, she can count on being almost to full hp like other supports.

TBH i don’t like it because Ana could in theory just heal let’s say a winston while they are peeling for you rather than you hitting the enemy to keep you alive from light damage from say an enemy winston or dva. This won’t change high burst flankers from killing you but the tanks would feel it.

I don’t think supports need to be giving flankers / divers more reasons to not be able to kill you. I rather see Ana get more healing potential or easier use of sleep dart.

Sorry but ana’s self healing isn’t the problem, comparing her to zen isn’t the case you should make

Zens passive heal only kicks in if he hasn’t taken damage

Brigs heal requires her to be dealing damage

Ana’s heal can be used whenever she needs it as long as it’s off cooldown

They aren’t comparable

It can also be used on multiple targets to block enemy healing, so using it right on say an attacking genji can completely cripple his chances of surviving

What ana’s problem is rather is people not being able to aim, she 3 shots most heroes, 2 and a flask if she must

A buff like this doesn’t effect her against a flanker. She’ll dual like she always has to, but a buff like this heals her keep her health up between attacks.

When she defends herself against a Genji, she’s behind on healing her team and grenade is on cd. Once grenade is available again she has to use it on her team or herself. If she doesn’t use it on herself she would be extremely easy to kill on the next attack because she’ll be below 100 or 200hp and will leave her team without a healer. If she uses it on herself, she has a much harder time healing her team back up from before and can lead to her team dying quicker putting them at a greater disadvantage.

Being able to get health back from healing an ally means she can use her grenade on her team and heal herself as well.

The number would be so low if you’re just spaming into the Winston that you would still die

75 only heals you for 11.25; Less than if the Lucio was healing you. So it’s no different if it’s a Lucio or any other teammate.

It’s a way to heal between fights without needing to burn your most important tool

So lets say a Genji is attacking you, and hits the Winston with his fan of shuriken; that does 23 damage to the Winston because of armour; If rather than attacking the Genji, the Ana heals the Winston, she gets 3.45 health

Doesn’t really change anything

I would rather give her the passive ability to shoot herself each time she reloads to heal herself up.

So then use it on yourself unless you think a flask would save more than 1 team mate

She can heal targets faster than other healers at a distance at like 80 hps or so vs something like zens 30 hps

Having a vulnerability is something you need to work around, not ask for there to be changes so you don’t have to deal with it

She heals for 90hps with 100% accuracy

Since the average accuracy isn’t 100% she heals for less

Also Ana has more vulnerability than any other support, and offers very little value for that.

Moira can heal all 5 members of the team for 80hps for 9 seconds
Mercy can heal through any sort of block, consistently without missing for 60hps
Ana’s heals can be blocked by barriers, blocked by enemies, can be missed

Asking for a slight relief in the department of Ana’s worst self-sustain of any support isn’t asking for much

Grenade is her group heal and it bursts her healing. When you have 3-5 people at critical her fire rate isn’t going to keep them up. Mercy, Moira, Lucio, Brigetta, zen don’t have to choose between their health or their team’s only Ana does.

I think youd have to dial the self healing back a bit more cuz of bio grenade. Which you forgot to include here.

Well that’s not Ana’s fault, moiras heal requires the team to be grouped up, same as lucios

Mercy’s heal is single target as well but requires her to be nearby

Mercy and zen both don’t have self sustain when taking damage (unless they’re ulting)

You have a weakness to play around, you have to deal with that

I’d personally love this on Ana, never having to use a nade on myself to heal 50 HP lest I walk into a damage boosted Widow shot ever again.
