Rather people enjoy a hard aim hero that is rewarding, and ana is the only healer that fits that criteria so far therefore healer players are naturally going to lean towards her

I play Ana because she’s a playmaker whereas many other supports are not. I also enjoy hitscan and aiming down a scope. Ana’s got me covered.

Ana was the best DLC hero added to this game hands down. Beautifully designed hero, wish they made more supports like her.

I’m sure that some people play Ana because they find her fun, but the truth is Ana has arguably the best playmaking and carry potential of the entire support roster with no real competition. Every single aspect of Ana’s kit is very strong, regardless of how fun or skilled people see her as.

Nah, Ana’s pretty much the only really worthwhile main support. I like Ana, but she’s also obviously the best choice, by a lot.
In truth I think it has more to do with the generally poor state of the other main supports than anything else.

I mean what can you do in the support role?
Moira isn’t allowed to be meta, or else people scream for nerfs
Baptiste isn’t allowed to be buffed despite needing it desperately because of his OWL usage
Mercy is the only other somewhat viable option; and even then most players agree she’s not very good and at most is an accessory to DPS
Brigitte is in the same boat as Moira, and isn’t allowed to be good
Lucio and Zen come and go as needed

as the highest skill cap healer should be, ease of peaking the skill cap in a hero is very important
Her pickrate is insane currently.
And she’s not that hard, otherwise she wouldn’t be dominating the lower ranks either.
Her kit is just packed with too much value compared to the other supports.

Fewer shields in the games is also a big reason why she’s really good right now. Her and Zen can use nades/sleeps/discords whenever they want now.
Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel. There was exactly one decent support besides Ana and it was Brigitte. Lucio is unimpactful, Zen has too much trouble surviving with damage creep, Moira isn’t very strong anymore since the nerfs, and Mercy has some uses but is much better played alongside Ana, not instead of. Oh yeah, and they nerfed Baptiste into being pretty much inferior to everyone.
Naturally, ezier heroes have flat abilities. I wouldn’t say Ana is particularly hard, but ridiculously, comparing to other healers she looks very hard.
Blizz has designed so many healers too ez and flat. I don’t know why. Perhaps Blizz thought healers are bus passengers?
Uh huh. But if any other hero has a high pickrate in top ranks, it’s because “top players have to play the meta.”
There are plenty of fun supports to play, and almost all of them take skill, including aim. The difference is, Ana gives a disproportionately large reward for the amount of skill it takes to play her. That’s what attracts players to her. Why bust your rear hitting all your shots and never missing a discord as Zen… if you’re going to lose to Ana anyway?

Exactly. Like, do these people not know a majority of Anas just stick right behind allies and continously hipfire them to heal them? You get literally the same result otherwise

list out what the counterability the support heroes have against anti-heal debuff affecting their allies.
then compare that with other utility other supports have that also impedes on what supports do directly.
I think this exercise will clearly show where ana’s problem is. i.e. it’s the inherent lack of counter play against anti-heal debuff from the support role (the same role the debuff impedes).

So… you are actually wrong. After Ana’s release, Mercy 1.0 still beat her in pick rate until Diamond and higher. Because most of the players are below that… Mercy 1.0 was actually the most picked hero in comp.
You know what has happened since then?
Mercy got a terrible rework and nerf train.
Moira has gotten several nerfs.
Brigitte got a rework that was also bad and they she also caught the nerf train.
Baptiste has also gotten nerfed quite heavily since his debut.
Zen and Lucio have caught a… mixed bag… but they don’t compete with Ana.
Ana gained a massive burst heal on Nano boost.
Ana isn’t this crazy popular hero. She’s picked so much because she’s the only support who’s actually allowed to be good. Everybody else gets nerfed into oblivion.
Also she is actually broken. She hard counters anyone you could potentially replace her with. I legit don’t understand why Anti nade hasn’t been nerfed to -50% instead of -100%. Other than that… she doesn’t need any changes. Her competition needs buffs.
