An idea on how to make a Native American hero: create a fictional culture

One of the big problems with making a Native American or Aboriginal hero is that there are too many different cultures and tribes to pick just one. The Sioux, Apache, Huron, Navajo, and many other tribes exist, and picking just one would be frowned upon.

To potentially solve this problem, I suggest that in order to make an Aboriginal/Native hero, Blizzard should come up with an entirely fictional tribe. One that only takes references from real life ones, but is only canon in Overwatch’s world. Mortal Kombat does this with Nightwolf, despite it being met with some controversy (though this is due to being too stereotypical).

Would this work, or would it still be inappropriate and “offensive”?

Pharah is a native american hero though, on her fathers side

Surely many would be offended, just like they were with Nightwolf, and Blizzard wants to dodge that bullet. So, eh. I feel skins are the best we can get for that sort of inspiration.

Actually I think picking one would be fine, probably better than making one up. Especially if their skins and voicelines were accurate, as it would bring awareness to the culture.

It would be a case of “Why didn’t you pick the other guys?”, something SJW’s would have a field day with.
