I recently built a new pc. I have a Ryzen 7800 X3D and a 4070ti (Windows 11). I am on the latest NVIDIA driver (555.85). Every time I open Overwatch 2 the game crashes after about 5 mins giving me an error (An external application has caused overwatch 2 to crash). I have tried doing everything: running scans and ram tests and all of them show no errors. I uninstalled and reinstalled battle.net and Overwatch 2 and still keep getting crashes. I have also uninstalled any possible problematic programs such as icue and NZXT cam and still no luck. When I look at the event viewer I get the following message âThe server Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.â If anyone has any advice on how to fix this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
Turn off the Xbox Overlay/Game Bar in control panel.
When I go to Control Panel and click âPrograms and Featuresâ I donât even see Xbox Game Bar. I believe I uninstalled Xbox game bar already. Unless thereâs another way of disabling it properly. Thank you for your help.
â/â means âOR.â Xbox Overlay OR Game Bar. Search GAME in the Control Panel âFind a settingâ field.
Ok. Thank you. When I type âGAMEâ in the âFind a settingâ field I see âGame Bar Settingsâ. When I click âGame Bar Settingsâ I see an option that says âAllow your controller to open Game Barâ and I have that set to âOFFâ. Is this what I should be seeing? Thank you again for the help.
Nope, Iâm referring to turning off the game bar itself. Turn the entire service off.
If itâs different in your version of Windows, you may need to consult Microsoftâs documentation or forums for assistance. Also, make sure youâre not running a Windows Insider build, which is not supported by any Blizzard game.
I have Windows 11 just for reference.
Canât assist with that, please see my advice above.
You might try going to Settings â System Components â Game Bar â Background Component Permissions â âLet this system component run in the backgroundâ â Never
Thank you for the help. I have tried this and I donât even see âGame Barâ as one of the options under system components. I even tried to type in the search bar for âGame Barâ and nothing shows up. Iâm assuming this means Game Bar is not on my PC.
Your Event Viewer seems to indicate that some part of Game Bar exists on your PC. Maybe it wasnât installed correctly or has been corrupted at some point?
If you want to fix your Game Bar install, you might check out this Reddit thread for possible solutions.
Ok. I will try these possible solutions and report back. Thank you again for the help.
