An ex gm doom 1 tricks opinion on new doomfist

well for starters, of course i dont prefer it. I love old doom, it was an entire new game inside of a game i already loved. watching brandito videos listening to the nice music while flying on roofs and finding how to play vs 6 hard counters lol.

but now playing VS doom ( i dont have him unlocked yet on my new account) after months of not playing, im finding him very very unbearable to play against. he gets to 1 hp, and just stops taking damage?? what? and he still punches me and shoots me and kills me. is this really better than dps doom that actually died? i havent gotten to play as him yet so i dont know. but this seems a little dumb

bring back dps doom alongside uppercut and indicator slam :star_struck:

Nah dps doom was cancer af. I prefer playing as, and against his new version much more

dps doom was easier to counter and was weaker overall lol.
tank doom is way stronger than dps doom ever was.

sadly seems more boring as well

100% tank doom is way more boring to play than dps doom its not even close.
we traded in fun for a stronger hero and I hate it.

that really sucks to hear

you can still one trick him though in my experience the insta-lock doom is either absolutely cracked and carries the game very quickly or is some guy who thinks he’s better than everyone else for playing a more niche hero, refuses to switch, and gets absolutely stomped by the other team.

He’s easier to one trick now since he’s easier to play and stronger whilst having more impact on the game.

I find tank Doom more fun. Though all the changes since the betas have made him less enjoyable.

but the thing i loved about doom was he wasnt easy 0_0

Tank doom compared to DPS doom:

  • Weaker
  • Less fun
  • No techs
  • Rollout playstyle completely gone
  • Lower skill ceiling
  • Lower skill floor

Tank doom is god awful and this is coming from someone who has hit top 500 with both tank doom and dps doom. Has over 1k hours on him. Has played him since his release.

He’s god awful and unfun to add on top of it. Blizzard has consistently (since his rework) basically forced his punchbot playstyle to be the only viable one. It’s just not fun.

I agree with all but weaker.
He’s not even a weak tank rn.
Tank doom is way stronger than dps doom overall in high elo, I can do way more now on tank doom than I ever could in high elo on dps doom.
I still want dps doom back though.

This was the problem.

Sitting on roofs waiting for cheese-kills is not good game design. It needed to go.

actually it was amazing game design, that typically only worked once every 20 games or on newbies.

The thing is we don’t have most of the hard counters to old doom anymore.

Flash bang for example has been cut, so has the stun on shield bash.

The major counter tool of an off tank being able to peel for their team is simply not their.

Yes you can interupt his combo’s with many heroes. But that isn’t exactly shutting him down, as for the most part doom will have cooldowns up way before most DPS or ana will get her sleep dart back.

And the “I have to save this specific tool for this one encounter that just repeats every team fight”, isn’t a fun gameplay loop to be in.

I would agree that block isn’t as much of an interactive ability, and I would prefer something else in that slot. Be it not uppercut specifically.

we still have sombra, hog, sleep dart, etc

Hog is maybe, as he is a getting a rework here soon-ish.

Which isn’t fun because it really limits what you can use the tool for, into one sitaution that’s giong to happen over and over again.

Sombra isn’t as much as a big deal as she use to be, keep in mind that 1.0 second isn’t a lot of down time for cooldowns. And she can’t chain hack anymore. So it’s a one and done deal for that engagement.

regardless of the things youre trying to explain to me that are just kinda irrelevant to my opinion, i think 90% of changes to the game have been for the worst

Which is why it was terrible game design.

It was either bad or unfun and never anywhere in between.
