Am I the outlier

I dont enjoy a lot of the new maps. I certainly hate Flashpoint maps, I don’t dig Antarctic Peninsula. I don’t like the direction they are taking with maps. We are coming to a point where they are going to have so many maps that you might go most of the day before you get an enjoyable map.

Some of these new maps have such a long run back and it just promotes more trickling. People get ganked on the long run backs because of sheer stupidity or impatiences. The multiple level and thousand of angles of attack just make these maps an advantage to the dynamic moving heroes.

There is nothing wrong artistically the maps are beautiful. It just to chaotic. Overwatch makes this mistake of designing for premade groups that are going to play together and cooridnate but the reality is 95% of this game is pugs who are gonna run off and flank these maps.
I dont know maybe its just me

Ive gotten 40 kills on some of these maps which is kind of absurd

I don’t feel like Antarctic is guilty of this personally but walking simulator sucks, yeah. Pretty much all Push and FP maps fall into this but there’s some payload maps like Numbani, too. I hope you don’t die while defending Numbani B because you’re going to have a hail a cab to get back to the fight.

I like Flashpoint actually, but I don’t like Antarctic Peninsula either. It’s my least favorite KOTH map. And Push as a game mode can be very frustrating. All Push maps feel bad to me, but particularly New Queen Street. I loathe that map.

I do understand the criticism with Flashpoint. But, I like it. I’d like the optimal path to the next point to be an option. They are big maps, so some pathing help would be nice.

I’d like Flashpoint more if there were more maps. Or at least if it did a better job at rotating. I swear I get the same Flashpoint map 5 times in a row. Literally only time I really had fun on Push was a no limits match with Balls vs Reins…it was like if Mayhem were fun instead of a stall fest.

Flashpoints are fine when you die, it’s the initial walk from point to point that is a slog. Spawns are relatively close to the objective, just transitioning from capped point onto the next is long and boring. Although they give enough time to get there even for heroes with no mobility.

Push will always be a chore for immobile characters though. Maps are too big and even with better spawn you still walk a ton. And the worst is when you respawn just before capping the next checkpoint. Then you walk for like half a minute easily.

yeah a lot of the maps are just flat out poorly designed

Antarctic Peninsula is one of the worst designed maps i’ve seen in any game period, it’s just dead space everywhere, it’s incredibly cluttered and flows horribly

I will say most of the launch maps were ok at most, Midtown and Paraiso are fine
all the push maps suck, all the flashpoint maps suck

I like FP more than Antarctic peninsula.

FP are chaotic, you may have fights in the middle of nowhere and your team may split so many times, some going to point and others engaging elsewhere… if you die, good luck reaching point in time before your team is dead too.

But Antarctic peninsula is plain horrible, too much elevated space around point, too many walls… to this day I hardly ever have fun playing in that map.

Walks of shame still feel a bit on the long side from my point of view but it could be that I’m being unfair. I haven’t actually sat down and tested to see whether they are, in fact, are longer than your bog standard KotH map’s walk of shame.

I can’t and won’t deny that switcheroo hikes in FP are even worse than the walks of shame, though. I had a game today where me and my JQ were the only survivors of a push on New Junk; the other three members of my team respawned and their through-wall silhouettes were tiny little figures over the horizon. Sigh. Hold on guys, we’re on our way. This is what I get for not picking Lucio on a FP map I guess.

Flashpoint just heavily punishes staggering and chasing kills. You must go for the next objective and not chase enemy team. Too many people get baited, trade kills and then are too late to the fight for the point. Due to very fast cap speed it’s important to win teamfights around the point and cap it, it’s like KOTH on steroids in that regard. You have like 2 teamfights for each point so if you feed early then you lost half of the progress on the point.

Whoever thought that making Antarctic Peninsula was a good idea…I hope they step on an entire factory’s worth of legos. That map is migraine central. A blue that eyeball blasting as an entire map??? Are you serious???

The new maps are pretty much 50 50 to me. Like the flashpoint maps, Junk-whatever is bad but the India one is fine.
Push maps, colosseo is horrible and Esperanca is ok.
Not a fan of Antartic at all either.
Shambali is “ok”. Circuit royale bad.

I agree, make more Kings Row-esque maps so the short range heroes can have some fun too.

I like the flash point maps (i like india more than junker town tho, just looks way nicer).
I personally love Push, i know apparently im weird but push is great imo, maps are good for it too.

That being said, Antarctic Peninsula is straight up my least favorite map(s) in the entire game. Something about it i just HATE lol.

RIP Blizzards old map design quality

I’m afraid that all maps of FP become a new HLC/Paris, cause I saw many more leavers at the start of the game in unranked games.

It seems people don’t like flashpoints because they are HUGE maps and longer to learn compared to the small maps like Ilios.

Personally, I love flashpoint and it is my favorite mode by far… but people still aren’t using the flanks in my games, which is demonstrative of how hard to learn these maps are. As a ball main, the health packs are also a challenge to learn but guess what? The challenge makes the game FUN.

Also, the fights while getting to a point are fun af. As a player with low skill it’s super interesting to get these unhinged fights on the way there. Hide to get to the next point, make sure your team is behind, get caught or track an enemy player… maybe try to get there first to get point while the rest of your team is fending off the other team. Oops, wtf reaper got there before me! OMG I didn’t think of looking around the corner… obligatory 1v1! Fun stuff… definitely not a grindy boring game like WoW! lol

I’m not a big fan of FP and antartic peninsula is visually terrible. I don’t like monochromatic maps.

I really miss the 2cp maps hanamura and anubis…

Anubis was fun but let’s be honest… being on the defensive side sucked on 2cp.
