Just curious. It’s so foreign to me I had to look it up some months ago when I first saw it on these forums. I don’t get it at all. Especially with relatively asexual video game characters.

Shipping is for those people who pretend to be fans of the game, but they’re actually the wrong kind of fan. Most of the time, these people don’t play the game, or pretend to play the game.

Been playing the game since open beta, and I love ships. They’re cute and harmless. My favorite is DVaxLucio, or BunnyRibbit as it’s sometimes called.
How can you be a ‘wrong’ kind of fan? Sounds gatekeepy to me.

I don’t participate but I don’t see any harm in it. It’s not hurting anyone, it’s not toxic. People enjoy different things. I personally would never cosplay because I think it’s silly but that’s just me. I’m not gonna criticize someone just because they like it. If it makes them happy, it’s all good as long as it’s harmless. Bliz did a good job of creating the OW universe, it’d only natural that people want to delve a little deeper.

Well, some like to fabricate relationships with fictional characters, while others just like to play them. No harm in that, I think. Nothing wrong with being creative, y’know.
Personally, I do ship characters, but I don’t advertise it. I just hit the fan fiction (or write my own~) when the mood strikes me ^^

See I don’t exactly like shipping but some of the fanart is kinda cute I gotta admit that much. Sometimes I stumble across it and it’s nice. I think the real problem for me is when you get into the po’rn (apparently you can’t put the word flat out) side or when people get into literal arguments over it. That’s when it’s like “get a life” for me.

Yeah, I don’t like shipping either. Though my problem is more with the shippers themselves than shipping as a thing.

I just hate how VISCIOUS people get about their ships and attack other over ships they like.
With games like this, I don’t ship anything I can’t perceive as canon, and since most characters haven’t even met one another/re-met in canon lore I don’t really ship anything as of right now.
But yes, on …that site, a lot of people ship without ever playing the game or with casual disregard for how the characters actually act (referred to as OOC “out of character”) and I think that actually annoys me more than crazy crack ships.
