Got back into OW, playing a few days off and on. Already I’m noticing I’m not having fun, not like I used to. Even if my team wins, even if I get PotG. I used to live for PotG.
Now, I mostly feel frustrated whether I win or lose.

Short answer. Yes.
Sounds like the game just isn’t for you now. Hope something else can spark that joy!
It’s definitely time to take a bit of a break. Either from the game entirely, or by faffing around on a different character or mode. Otherwise you risk being burnt out permanently.
I think I might do that, actually. There are games I’ve not played yet like Ghost of Tsushima. Might give that a try.
Are you a previous OW1 player? Just curious.
Take a short or long break. Do some other stuff. Then come back when you are ready.
This is an excellent idea. It’s really easy to get burnt out on OW with all the toxicity. Playing a good single player game is a great way to come back fresh later. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Ghost of Tsushima. I hope you enjoy it.
This happened to me around mid season on Marvel Rivals season 1. Every single enemy annoys me to no end and I’m always tight win or lose.
I thought long if I should get this seasons pass, but I only needed to pay around 4€ so I got it… I thought the feeling would go away.
Every single day is torture to do the missions, but because I bought the pass I’m going to complete it. Not going to play after this one for sure. My honeymoon is so dead and gone with that game. Maybe if they change tons of things I might give it another go.
If someone is experiencing a gaming fatigue, try a genre you rarely play. Returnal saved my gaming life my love and passion for gaming was revitalized.
I’ve only started playing towards the beginning of OW2, so 2, almost 3 years.
Been sadly feeling this way the last few seasons now. Sounds like you need to dabble in playing some other games sometimes! (Obvlivion remaster just came out, deff recommend)
Don’t worry brother. You are far from alone.
This is exactly what I felt when I stopped playing Overwatch a year ago.
It was so fun playing with you the other day! I’m sorry to hear the game doesn’t feel rewarding like it used to. What are your main frustrations?
It was fun playing with you as well. Some of the most fun I’ve had in OW.
I feel like I’m inconsistent, part of it is me, but my matches feel wildly inconsistent sometimes. Like, I’ll go from a lobby where I can play and do well. To another lobby the following game where I just get destroyed.
The wild part is I have no idea what level of player I’ll be facing next match. So I have no idea whether or not I’m making progress.
I will say I think my Ashe improved our last match, against freja in particular.
Great, Camel. You scared off one of the nicest forum members from enjoying Overwatch… Are you happy?
No, playing with Camel was a blast. QP’s just got me down is all. I’m starting to wonder if competitive might actually be easier.
A lot of this is amplified at the moment due to a large number of the playerbase hitting up stadium to try it out or at least play it long enough to get some of the free rewards. That leaves the only people on comp and qp are ones who are done with the stadium tour, are new to the game, or just don’t have any interest in it.
Stadium is very steamroll heavy - if you’ve tried that and felt like you’re just getting crushed then it’s sort of normal for that game mode for now until people get placed where they’re supposed to be (it’s so new). QP is highly unpredictable, and I feel like comp games are heavily driven by stacks of 3+ which is a doable but for sure uphill battle.
I’m nowhere near being a pro so I can only talk from my experience. Steamrolls in any game mode I don’t really dwell on unless I think the team has the potential to make some changes to prevent it from continuing. Most of the time they aren’t willing or we don’t play at the same skill level on the heroes needed to change it, so I just make peace with it, purge it from my headspace as best I can, and wait to go next.
That’s awesome! You were definitely getting some helpful elims in for sure! Ashe is such a great choice on maps that aren’t necessarily Widow friendly, and even if you struggle, a good Bob placement or simply poking the enemy from a different angle to distract them or make them spread out can really be key in helping a team progress when they get stuck so there’s always opportunities to create value. Little stuff like that doesn’t always show up on a scoreboard but really can change the outcome of a match.
Typical me, wielding the ConvoKiller 9000 series and abusing it to its fullest potential.
It literally is. People just get the jitters. But once you realize it is just quickplay with fancy wallpaper, you will be set free.
As a Widow main (her, not me), she might get discouraged further by playing comp if she intends to play there with Widow. Widow has a high expectation for consistency match to match and they want you to swap early on if you aren’t immediately effective. It can lead to a lot of pressure which could potentially make you perform worse and also make you feel worse. This is all assuming they don’t ban widow straight away during hero select. I’ve only had one or two games where they did, but it’s certainly a possibility.
You should try new things in game to find different ways to have fun.
Let’s start with banning Mercy every game for a month, get back to us with your thoughts then and we’ll discuss other possibilities like banning her for two months instead.
Please go try marvel rivals if you haven’t already it makes OW look dumb as hell
