Alternative ultimates

Just for fun, what alternative ultimates can you come up with? Imagine having the ability to choose a secondary ultimate for a hero in the spawn room, or actually having two ultimate meters that can be toggled back and forth on the fly.

Here are some examples (some of them make sense to have purely as alternative ults and others would make more sense in a system which allows you to fill two ult meters):

  • Zenyatta: Ascendancy. Just like with transcendence Zen glows, gains speed and becomes invulnerable but instead of healing in an area effect he automatically places a harmony orb on every ally and discord orb on every enemy in line of sight for the duration of the ultimate. After it’s over the harmony orbs go away but the discord orbs remain until line of sight is broken.

  • Reinhardt: Airshatter. A beefed up version of fire strike. With an animation similar to his regular melee, Rein throws the hammer which travels at the same speed as a fire strike dealing 200 damage. Once the hammer connects with the map (ground, walls…) it returns to Rein like a boomerang dealing another 100 damage in it’s way. While the hammer is flying Rein is able to shield and charge as usual.

  • Lucio: Sonic beam. A continuous, aimed wave of sound (similar to a Hanzo dragon in width) that slows enemies and stops the progress of cooldowns. Mechanically similar to Moira’s ult.

  • Zarya: Barrier discharge. Zarya transfers all the accumulated energy from the particle cannon into the shields, resetting the cooldown of the friendly bubble while gaining a personal barrier that is 100HP stronger and 1 second longer in duration for every 10 energy (so that plus the regular 200hp for 2 seconds). The barriers used during the ultimate will not give Zarya any charge. After the ultimate her personal barrier will be on cooldown.

And so on, have a few more like a Primal punch for Winston or a dud bomb for D.va, haha!

I’ve never been a fan of Winston’s ult, so I would replace it so that while in Primal Rage instead of knocking enemies back, he jumps around slamming his fists to the ground on each landing, dealing a chunk of damage to the enemy targets.

Honestly, I thought for Zen his ult was just going to be he nopes out and just ascends.

Mei: Snowfall - It starts to snow. Enemy movement is slowed, and their firing rate/abilities are reduced. Allies get a speed boost. And there are snowmen.

Pharah: Arial Strike Like Doomfist, but she rides in on a bird. Arial superiority achieved.

Roadhog; Cook 'em All damage received a certain time before ultimate is saved and then turn into a large blast that is returned to the enemy.

Symmetra: Rethink Uses a teleproter to send the enemy on point/payload back to their base.

Widow: All-seeing Reveals enemy ult charge stats

Sombra - Mind Control Control another player for 10 seconds

Wrecking Ball - Burrow instead of just throwing the mines out, he can burrow below the ground, and where he pops up is where the mines are placed.

Reaper:
Time to Reap! : Reaper now gets a scythe in his hand and moves in wraith form and he gets his shape only swinging it. So its a bit like Genji’s dragon blade but cooler.

Sounds scary, I like it.

I wish this was his ultimate.

Showdown : gets one more revolver and appears 4 omnic arms from his back, each one with an revolver.Each revolver has 6 bullets making him 36 bullets on total on this ult, same base damage, same critical but extremely increase his firerate (still click to shoot(“fast as you pull the trigger”)).

BAstion: THe Big One. With a small wind up he shoots one giant explosion at an area this would charge slightly faster then tank mode

Moira. "BIotic Infusion. For the duration of her ultimate anyone being effected by her beams are iether enhanced damage or lowered damage output (based on whether she’s healing or dealing damage.)

Lucio “Remixxed Chaos” " His Crossfade aura for 10 seconds also applies the reverse effect to his enemies in the radius, so if he’s healing it’ll do DPS to the enemies as well and if he’s speed boosting then enemies are slowed.

Hammond - swallow an enemy player into his buccal pouch, like hamsters do. Or hide a team player from enemy on the same way.
He’s a tank hero at least, it will protect :smiley:

Sombra: Now you see me

  • Sombra casts Invisibility on all of her allies.
  • Only reveal allies whenever they use abilities, or their primary/secondary fire (and or walked into).

Symmetra: My Reality

  • Symmetra’s abilities are enhanced. Turrets have lower cooldown, Teleporter has infinite duration.
  • Beam range increased to 15 meters.
  • Increase Ammo Capacity to 100.
  • Decrease Tier-up time to 1 second.
  • Orbs Pass through barriers.

Ana: Bedtime Story

  • Throws a grenade that puts enemies gradually to sleep over 2 seconds.
  • Whilst falling asleep, movement is slowed, vision is hindered.
  • When asleep, enemies take 10% more damage.
  • Grenade coves a 15m AoE.

Zarya: Graviton Flare - Launches an Orb that after sticking to a surface charges up briefly before unleashing a massive concussive force that pushes enemies away, dealing collision damage if they strike a wall. Can be stuck to enemies.

Mei: Glacial Force - Mei fires a large ice construct that pushes enemies away, potentially pinning them, like Reinhardt’s charge.

Widowmaker: One Shot - A single Sniper shot with +50% damage at max charge that pierces all barriers and cover props (Crates, cars, etc. No walls.) Widow has X seconds to take the shot or else it’s wasted.

Mercy: Caduceus Standard - Mercy plants her staff in the ground, healing all nearby teammates for extra health, and allows her to use her Pistol.

Sombra: Scrambler - AOE attack that enables targets to cause Friendly Fire. Including with Autoaim abilities like Tactical Visor and Deadeye.

McCree: Old-Fashioned Way - McCree dual wields, doubling capacity and firerate of his primary fire. Does not reload his weapon, cannot reload during ultimate, cannot Fan the Hammer. Ult ends on a timer or upon running out of ammo.

Cool, I had a similar idea with a tank/healer hybrid. Some sort of omnic ambulance that swallows allies and heals them while they’re inside.

Dva - Air Strike - D.va sends a signal to MEKA to fire a line of micro missiles from the sky in a line across the map in the direction of D.va’s choosing

Roadhog - Toxic Terrain - Roadhog throws an explosive canister of his healing gas into a large area. Enemies caught in the gas during any part of the duration will begin taking 40 damage per second up to 200 damage max. Any sort of healing will cancel the venom effect. Gas area stays for 5 seconds.

Pharah - Seeker Missiles Pharah’s rockets begin to target and chase enemies for direct damage. Lasts for 5 seconds.

Lucio: sit and cry - Lucio just sits there, sulking and complaining about how his speakers won’t stop playing Mexican music cause of Sombra :c

Widow: Death Scope:
When she ults instead of wall hacks she gets a McCree style 1 shot on 3 enemies and it lasts 10 seconds. She has to select them though.

Symmetra: Indestructible Shield Generator

Widowmaker: One shot, one kill - All sniper shots charged above 67% are guaranteed kills for 6 seconds

Soldier 76: Get Down! - Increase soldier’s health to 400 for up to 20 seconds as long as he is within 10 meters of a support hero and giving that support hero 100 bonus health as well.

Hanzo: Powershot - Fires a penetrating arrow moving at a speed of 65 units dealing 350 damage to any enemies it passes through until it hits unbreakable terrain

Ana: Eye of Horus - Works very similar to the way it does in HotS. Ana can see all enemies and allies and walls and can shoot through unbreakable terrain. She also reloads but cannot reload the rest of the ultimate and this ultimate lasts as long as she has that clip for. She can shoot enemies for normal damage or shoot allies for double the healing.

Genji: Close combat - Genji pulls out his shortsword and can use it on enemies dealing 70 damage per slash for 20 seconds. He can’t use his shurikens during this ultimate but he can still deflect as normal and he can use Swift Strike on a 5 second CD instead of an 8 second CD

Reaper: I’m dying anyway - Reaper can activate this ultimate within 2 seconds of him dying and he gets 1 full clip to continue shooting before he dies and then has to wait an extra 3 seconds to respawn.

Brigitte: Yes my lord - Her shield grows to the size of Reinhardt’s with the same amount of health. This ultimate would end when the shield is broken and the shield does not regenerate during this time

Moira: Biotic Pulse - Unleashes a pulse the size of Sombra’s EMP that does 250 healing and 200 damage.

Tracer: Slipstream - Blinks to her prototype Slipstream jet and can call down 6 shots in a Meteor Strike fashion which do 150 damage in a small area and 75 in a larger area

Orisa: Giddyup - Becomes unstoppable by gaining fortify and 200 extra armor for 8 seconds along with 75% increased movement speed and she can run forwards to charge enemies and knock them down for .75 seconds and dealing 75 damage tp them (each enemy can only be affected by this ultimate once). Orisa can only fire while in this state.

Zarya: Knockup - A quickly charging ultimate that picks up a targeted enemy within 8 meters and throws them 8 meters behind you and deals a small 25 damage to them.

Winston: Did someone say peanut butter? - Winston lays down peanut butter in an area 10 meters around him which slows enemies by 25%.

I’m aware, I meant much more damage though.

Winston could throw banana peels everywhere, causing the enemies to fall down & slide around for a period of time.

Reaper could fart & say “Silent But Deadly, Uah-ha-ha-hah” - it’s basically the same attack as now, minus the guns & shooting.

Eric Andre (as a new hero) could yell “It’s time to deliver a pizza ball!” and smash a giant pizza ball down on all the enemies.
