I know hero pools have created a divide between players who want it gone and those who identify the positive aspects. I know the dev team has stated that they don’t plan on implementing a ban system similar to what we see in MOBAs, so I came with a system that could domine the best of both worlds:
Regarding Hero Pools, I’d suggest taking the best of boh worlds (or combining them the way other games to this). I’d go like this:
- Bans are across all the board
- System chooses one team to be A and one team to be B (bear with me)
- Team A chooses 1 hero from a randomly chosen role (for example DMG)
- Team B chooses 2 heroes from one of the remaining roles (for example Tank)
- Team A chooses 2 heroes from the remaining role (in the example Support)
- Team B chooses their heroes from the first selected role (DMG)
- Team A chooses 2 heroes from the remaining role (Tank)
- Team B chooses 2 heroes from the remaining role (Support)
- Team A fills up their roster
- Heroes CAN’T BE REPEATED between teams
I think this could solve the Hero Pool META changes, as METAs would have to be made on the fly.
I understand this breaks the Player-Main relationship and reinforces the Player-Role relationship that I beleive is the main reason for 2-2-2 and the hero pools to begin with.
I can see this being applied only to competitive, quick play could remain with the old system. And now that open queue is back, this could be applied to the new 2-2-2 system only as to differentiate it further to the open queue.
