What happens to alt accounts that players already have on October 4th? Will we still be able to access them if we link the same phone number as our main account? Will they be simply name changes and all have the same rank as the main account? And if so, do we get to cross-account the cosmetics?
I sure hope you can’t
You hope players will be unable to access them at all, or hope that they will/won’t have the same rank as the main account?
Kinda hope we get to still use them since I have 5 accounts
Yeah, it would be weird to lose access to something you paid for like that. I wouldn’t mind linking them to my main account or whatever, but I don’t want to lose access completely.
just put a phone number on them…
I’d be okay with alt accounts existing as long as they all have to be tied to the main account & SMS number that way account punishments are across all accounts.
You shouldn’t be able to troll/throw/be toxic on an alt and just log into another account. If someone is committing bannable offenses on an alt their main account should be banned too
I mean this is the state of it. No phone number, no alt.
I have eight btw personally, so I will probably end up rotating the phone number around. I think that will work, the question is what will be the delay in transferring the number?
I’d like to see all smurf accounts without numbers perma banned. “alt accounts” is just another phrase for smurfing trash. They deserve to be perma banned they ruin the game. If people can’t handle losing games on their main accounts then they shouldn’t play online games, period.
Yeah, banning without reason? LOL they won’t do that.
They are two different things.
This statement shows either horrible bias or gross ignorance. Which is it?
Oh give me a break. Do you know how many people use “alt accounts” as an excuse for smurfing? Do your research and open your eyes, good god. The fact that you state I have gross ignorance is extreme irony at it’s finest.
Get back to me when you look at things properly, until then I’m heading back to ranked on my non-alt/smurf account.
I didn’t deny they do. OTOH when the former head of the company and the TOS support “alts” but not “smurfing” there is a difference. What’s ignorant is you using the terms equally when they are just not.
The problem is you see no distinction, when the distinction is very real. OTOH, I also contend that multiple alts are bad for the game in general because the higher SR people are the more they have, and they are distorting the skill curve via MMR inflation. I’d say I am quite aware how it all works bro. I think it’s safe to say my “research” and understanding exceeds yours on this question.
The way I see it, the potential for physically limiting players to single accounts could accomplish the following:
- (Good) For a significantly-sized population of honest, serious players: healthier matchmaking.
-
(Good & Bad) For dishonest, trollish players: limits them to throwing on a single account to achieve their ends.
- (Good) A significantly-sized population of honest players wielding a well-designed account actioning system will be able to assist in successfully weeding out trollish players.
- (Bad) For a population of dishonest, trollish players wielding a not-so-well designed account actioning system, they will, rather successfully, both threaten and remove innocent players from the game, which will sow distrust in the system and cause players to think twice on dropping money on the game when enough random trolls can get them banned just for being unlucky enough to have been paired with them, and who will tire of being fearful all the time while simultaneously losing interest, and thus leave on their own sooner.
- (Good & Bad) Limits the ability non-trollish players have to introduce their outside (newbie) friends to the game and the ability to group with them, particularly for dishonest players who may exploit the wide skill gaps of the lobby, (which upsets the fun for the majority present in each game). This limits the influence veteran players have to attract (and help retain) additional new people to the game.
- (Bad) Limits the ability of non-trollish, dishonest players from learning new characters. Forces all players to throw or unintentionally “smurf” if their skill gaps between their mains and the new characters they are learning have a wide gap. This encourages one-tricking, which tends to cause toxicity among teammates.
- (Good) Helps eliminate ban evasions.
Absolutely.
They aren’t going to force a phone number for my many accounts.
Ah right so you’re using the “i’m more intelligent card” on a discussion thread. Don’t even know me, yet you have no hesitation on judging someone without meeting them. I’d hate to be you.
Addios
It’s best to ignore this one. I had the displeasure of interacting with them earlier.
Also heyo, old timer hope you’re having a nice Saturday. My AC gave out and it’s 29c in my apartment.
Really? When? Will be interested to check up on it because I don’t remember replying to a post you have made
I am because I am correctly using the terms, you are not.
Adios indeed.
Living in the ATL area my sympathies, no AC is hell… I’d rather be cold any day!
Riiiighhht…sure you are lol. But hey-if it helps you sleep at night that’s a good thing. Lol.
