You can play the best you can, it doesn’t matter. Heroes compared to earlier have less skill requirement, shots register even if they miss, most heroes can self-heal, sustain or get away for free and those who don’t are pretty much trash-tier. It turned overwatch into this clownfest where counters, teamcomps and perks became more important and the ability to outplay shrunk and shrunk. perks added freshness to the game but the game is still just a shadow of it’s former self.
you can…bring your own team mate
oh is this another solo thing
yeah bring teammates in a dedgame ft. no voice + no lfg bcuz some snowflakes found that toxic./
rigged you are the snowflake, ive seen your posts
I think the problem they suffer is of a ‘blue’ mindset. They want those rich in skill to pay for those who lack. I am usually stuck with a new tank vs a seasoned team (QP). I can hold my own, but I suck at carrying. These guys blizzard teams me with get slaughtered so frequently they quit. I honestly wonder if Blizzard is trying to sink their own game (for some insurance fraud?)
I hate how so many of you speak the same when online everyone is stuck saying trash , clownfest , dogwater as if thats most of your vocabulary now
Who needs vc in game when we have discord? What’s lfg?
Honestly this reply makes no sense to me, because I was the one brought into the game by a friend already playing… Who was in a group of people who also played the game.
So if I want to play the game, I don’t have an issue finding people to play with.
LFG was a really useful tool to quickly find players in-game that use VC. Discord is good too but there are almost no console discords and not a lot of players are taking their time to make a post, therefore, not enough choice when it comes to finding a group that suits you. As a console player I can say that we really benefited from that function, there was always people to play with from all over the world, it was fun. Since we also don’t have a way to change regions on console without a VPN, it was an easy way to play on NA servers to get faster queues, better matches etc.
I would tell you about a group with console players in the NA, but that could be flagged so I’m out of options on this
u say that but i see ball doom zarya and winston players dominating whole lobbies by themselves. im happy when i managed to hit a single shot in those lobbies
there is currently nothing that compares to what LFG used to be on console. Discords are mostly empty and you can only find solo players that want a rank boost and then most of them don’t reply.
LFG had multiple pages of groups looking for players for all kinds of gamemodes and ranks. You could see player requirements and how much room the group had left in real-time. I used to even play modes like CTF Blitz or Total Mayhem frequently because of this, especially at the end of OW1’s life-cycle. This has been taken away from us for no significant reason other than them saying that it wasn’t used, which in my case, wasn’t true.
I assume there were some different reasons as to why they removed it. Something around the likes of groups with boosting, account selling, trafficking and maybe even including illegal content or misbehaviour. These groups probably still exist, but they’re hidden in the custom games section.
Everything had to be rebuilt for OW2’s modified engine. At least that’s what Blizzard has said. So I’m sure it came down to them trying to figure out how they can get OW2 to launch on time, what systems they need, which ones they don’t, and LFG was one that that got the axe because it wasn’t deemed necessary.
And it’s sad because this was one of the reasons the first game lived for so long at least on console. I remember joining a “byebye Ow1” group shortly before they took it down. Everything went downhill from there.
This is a direct result of thick layering of passives and perks caked over the original goty. What these do is have hidden numbers playing the hero for the player. These hidden numbers are always running in the background effecting match outcomes. Essentially the game has been dumbed down so much that it’s taken away the advantage of skill. Aiming, reaction time, general skills that separate players in e sports. It’s less effective in todays ow because of all the hidden statistics that play for you requiring no skill just that you log on
Tin foil hat theories aside, the past 2 weeks have been terrible.
I can’t wait for players to filter back down to where they belong after this ranked reset.
I don’t know that there will be that many players left to come back to. Overwatch is bleeding players. It wouldn’t even be in the top 10 games played on Roblox. I don’t think people realize how bad it is and how desperate of a patch this was. It’s just a hodge podge of past ideas taped together. It’s already starting to fall apart.
Where is the source for this info?
My experience is that the game is fine and pretty fun. The playerbase is awful.
It’s not hard to source player numbers on PC and console. OW is dying. It’s been dying for awhile. BUT! after surging numbers immediately following the perk patch, the players have begun a mass exodus. The player base has been hitting all time lows. We are watching a once titan of the gaming industry in its death throes.
“LFG had some social and disruptive behavior problems that we never solved,” said Winter
"Winter noted that when the team was performing the engine upgrade from Overwatch to Overwatch 2, every element of the UI had to be fixed as well. As LFG included a lot of UI resources, the team decided to prioritize other aspects of the game like competitive 2.0 and ping.
Server Engineer Morgan also weighed in on the reason to leave it behind and noted that LFG was “very complicated on the server, too” which added to the team’s decision to leave it behind."
"As for the question of whether or not LFG will ever return to Overwatch 2, Winter said that while the team still finds value in the feature “it hasn’t been a priority so far.”

You can read more about it there or watch the video, but that’s pretty much the gist of it.
Yeah that’s more or less what I remembered. The social issues at the time that had been mentioned was mostly that LFG teams were getting people in their games, then trolling players mid-game, kicking them during comp, that kind of thing.
The main issue though was the amount of resources it would take to build it back and I definitely remember them saying it wasn’t used much and that was part of the decision.
