Like I said in the tank thread. If you want to make a reference, please be more careful so as to not fill it with misinformation.
Speculated. We know she was in Junkertown, and it was possibly one of these skins that she wore there, but if you are going to use a speculation tag, you should use it for these two.
As far as we know, Baptiste was never in Junkertown.
Ironclad was never shown to be canon. Its more of a reference like how her Rod Rare is a Reinhardt colour reference. As for the other two, from what I can tell they have nothing to do with Torbjorn. She was shown wearing something similar to Mechanic when maintaining Reinhardt’s armor.
Athleisure is the correct colouration featured in her promotional pieces. Sukajan is the other colour that they gave us for free.
As far as we’ve seen, none of Lucio’s skins are canon. From what few stills we have seen of him DJing, he just does it in his classic outfit rather than like Deadmau5 with the mask. And Equalizer was a skin based on concept art rather than the hero’s history.
Speculated outfits. While she is a minister there (not past tense) its unknown if she puts on those special robes for it or just wears her normal Scientist labcoat.
you already have my answer on the tank topic on how I think skins should be interpreted: ways of telling the lore, not always “exactly” the appearance of the heroes. Or simple quotes.
this started to become “canon” through interaction with Junkerqueen. and I confirm that it makes sense to her that she has traveled the world on various missions
Between Horus and Sniper I think there has always been a little “rewrite” of Ana’s appearance as an Egyptian soldier, simply to bring out an Amari skin recolor in 2016 and better define her in 2020. But regardless, both skins are valid for be considered canonical.
This is unconfirmed otherwise we would have to canonize torbjorn mingling with deadlock rebels in one of his skins . For now, I’ll apply it as a simple homage to the world of Overwatch with a possible costume of the inhabitants of Junkertown (and a great outfit for a junkers composition )
you will find it funny that one of its standard skins (if I’m not mistaken Spec Ops) includes the logo of the Caribbean coalition. if we think about it, is it canonical? Of course not, it’s too different from the origins video and doesn’t adequately represent what you see in the origins. Maybe it’s more of a video game homage. Interestingly though, the talon skin is particularly similar to Baptiste’s appearance in the origin video of her in the brown outfit. my speculation is that initially the talon skin was supposed to be standard together with a recolor of the same skin for the caribbean breakfast. but then they changed their mind to launch this skin in archives, and create a completely new one with another recolor (got it OW2? This is the one called “legendary rarity”).
not canon, but the frog is a tribute to its logo. I don’t rule out the possibility that it could be a dj party costume . Equilizer… well, here we simply have to consider a period of Lucio as a rebel, which is partially confirmed in the second OW artbook. but we must not forget that the intention of the developers was to use an original concept. I would only canonize half of this aspect, simply for the purpose of representing his lore but not the exact one. And not that the developers pay much attention to details such as the presence of a tattoo, let’s not be picky.
I would canonize it without problems as a hypothetical ministerial robe. Symmetra Oasis (which is not canonical for the character but only from the point of view of Vishkar’s intentions with Oasi) confirms that among the stylistic details of the city there is that of using pointy hats, perhaps as a symbol of the rise of human mind. I would by no means rule out Moira and the other ministers using this type of outfit when officially operating as representatives.
I don’t know who Reaper76 responded to when feeling offended, but as for how I responded… I think I used polite tones of how I thought about skin philosophy and what there was to correct as canon.
I understand that sometimes topics become a bit controversial, but I don’t even think it’s appropriate to respond to offense with offense. especially for the lore which is already very degraded by the lack of an orderly archive of info as it deserves.
I’m sorry he felt offended, but as Doc said, he asked for any corrections and there were. In some points rude? yes, but still corrections that he didn’t feel the need to edit as completely as the OP wanted to offer. And as sorry as he felt… I can’t help but notice that he preferred not to make the correction that was provided to him as he requested.
They responded to me because I did it in a blunt way and started the post off by saying to not fill it with misinformation if its meant to be a reference.
Whether or not one thinks it is blunt or “rude and picky” is irrelevant. The OP is still filled with these same errors half a month later. It’s a misleading thread that will cause more harm than good if it doesn’t get fixed.
Misinformation from resources that frame themselves as reference is how we get people still thinking that Mercy resurrected Reaper almost 7 years after that awful theory with fake evidence popped up on Reddit.
