Ever since I updated to overwatch 2, ive been having this issue. The audio cuts out every 1 or 2 seconds before cutting back in then out again, and makes the game absolutely unplayable. This issue never happened in OW1, or any other game, and only happens when I updated.
The issue even started happening in the closed alpha, which I was never able to play comftorably because of this issue. I had hoped it would have been fixed by the time the main release happened, but appearently not
Ive tried updating every audio driver I have, installing optional windows updates, messing around with advanced settings, and the like but I cant find a solution
I’m beginning to think it may be the wireless headset im using, and it may not be compatible with OW2,
I’m using a Turtle Beach Stealth 700 G2 connected to my PC with an XBOX USB adapter.
Once again, the headset works perfecting fine with every other game on my pc, discord, and OW1, with crystal clear audio, and only starts cutting in and out with OW2 audio.
Please help, I’d like to play OW2 with my friends (none of whom are having this issue).
This sounds like an issue you may need to work with Turtle Beach on. I can confirm audio is playing as intended in Overwatch 2, but I’m not using that headset.
Most of the time, when an adapter is involved, the proper amount of sound channels aren’t available to the game.
OK so I managed to fix it.
This issue seems to be going on with USB wireless headsets when connected to OW2, and the way that fixed it for me was to:
Go into Device Manager
Open up the tab that reads “Sound, Video, and Game Controllers”
Find the usb connected your pc port, it should be in that list. For me it was “Xbox Controller” because im using an Xbox adapter, but it will most likely be different for you
Double click that USB in the tab so you can see its properties.
Navigate to the “Driver” tab and click uninstall device.
Wait for it to finish, then unplug your USB then plug it back in to reinstall that driver
Relaunch OW2 and see if it works. If not, im sorry, but thats what worked for me
