I won’t lie, I enjoyed messing around in skirmishes and chatting with players. That is something that doesn’t happen anymore, everyone is so angry anymore and when you do chill or mess around, your que magically pops up.
The same. I’ve played custom games with my friends while we were waiting. I’ve either made up some or imported the most popular ones.
Waiting was a better community builder than the LFG function they used to have.
The reasons DPS Queue Times were so high in OW1 2-2-2 are:
(1) 8 Tanks, 16 DPS, 7 Supports at 2-2-2’s launch, got Echo as our 17th DPS hero 6 months later, and ZERO new heroes for the remaining 2.5 years until OW2. Tank and Support didn’t get any new heroes for the 3 years of 2-2-2 we had, we got Sigma right when 2-2-2 released and that’s it.
(2) The massive hard-CC issue was never addressed, which effected Tanks the most because they are in-front of the team and the biggest targets. Sombra could literally have a Tank ability locked for 15 seconds straight by doing Hack + EMP + Hack. Tanks got interrupted by so many players on the enemy team. Making it so Tanks are the only ones who have hard-CC is how you get more people to play Tank.
(3) DPS-only Tank hero designs were not reworked. Having a Roadhog or Wrecking Ball on the team meant there was a lot more pressure on the other Tank to provide adequate team protection, because Roadhog and Wrecking Ball in OW1 couldn’t help sustain the team at all. It was like running a 1-3-2 comp.
(4) Lastly, the slow and inconsistent basis they released balance patches in OW1 2-2-2 combined with the points above never being addressed, made DPS Queue Times much higher than both Tank and Support, as shown by Aaron’s chart in the first 2-2-2 dev blog.
Exactly why I said it’s my guess. Not what is for sure going to happen.
The queue are already bad for the higher ranks due to a lack of tank players queueing. 6v6 is to make tank more fun overall so in theory queue times should stabalize more. And even if it doesnt it probably wont affect lower rank/qp too much
I don’t foresee them upkeeping 2 versions of the game…and I don’t think you as a player should want them to either
they have NEVER given ANY indication that they can…like yeah theyve had OQ and RQ up at the same time for years…but OQ has received a grand total of 1(!) change in that time…a global tank hp nerf and they called it a day
People are not going to want 5v5 AND 6v6 if either (or both) is going to be given OQ level of dedication
Like whatever they end up deciding is the best option of the two is what they should fully commit to
Just go tank and u have a smaller wait time
I mean so was the changing them into brawlers thing….remember that the tanking issue is that the average player didn’t like to tank in 6v6 (in part because it’s considered “boring”)
So it’s not as simple (or accurate) as saying 6v6 is to make tank more fun
The game is already dead. Fixing the horrible raid boss balance is the least they can do to redeem themselves before it’s fully in the grave.
What? Balance issues will still exist. They’ll just be different ones.
Double barrier was weird, because by the time it was mass replicated in rank it was already basically fixed.
Ball was added, who is basically designed to break through all of that. their offensive combo in the pull rock was nerfed heavily, and the barrier reworks that happened which actually gave winston more barrier HP.
