I Had a game yesterday on expert.
We all got into the ship and then our Orisa walks up to the ramp, waves at us then jumps down and lets them kill her so we ended up losing… SO infuriating!
Blizzard please! This needs to change!
We shouldn’t have to rely on people doing the sensible thing in order to complete the game mode… ESPECIALLY when they do it on purpose!
The way it is now you punish three other players for one players actions.
Please change it so the ship will leave after a set time and that it counts as a loss for all those that refuse to get on board.
Thankfully, Uprising is old hat, so the pathetic losers who can only get any satisfaction out of life by being a thorn in the paws of others largely ignore Uprising in favor of Retribution where folks are more likely to be annoyed by such disruptions. I’ve been playing Uprising exclusively since the second day of the event since Retribution is basically unplayable, but thankfully only once did I have anybody even pretend that they were going to troll, and thankfully they were only joking and just stood outside of the Payload area for maybe 10 seconds taunting before they stepped inside and played the rest of the match normally.
Although, this does unfortunately make me worry that Blizzard will just ignore this issue considering that was an issue with Uprising last year (albeit not nearly as big as it is with Retribution today) and they never bothered to fix it. I really hope that I’m wrong though, as I would really like to play some more Retribution before the event comes to an end (any they REALLY should extend it at this point considering how long it’s been virtually unplayable) without having to wonder if one of the players on my team is a griefer.
Day 4. Situation continues. Really, Blizzard? Really?
Blizzard clearly don’t care about this.
Yep, and they let it go until the weekend when more folks have the free time to play as well. It really goes to show you their devotion towards providing players with a AAA event, doesn’t it? It’s gonna be pretty hilarious if this event ends up selling less Loot Boxes than previous ones and Blizzard is left wondering why.
Bump. I want a response to this.
Oh no. I had people still keep fighting for a bit, but I assumed they were just unaware. They did get in the ship after we went and got them. I can only see this getting worse as the days go on and people get too use to the mode. When clearing it is boring and trolling others becomes the main fun of the event. That’s a scary thought.
I personally didn’t get on the ship for a full 2 minutes when I first played.
It was on normal, and really it’s arcade after all. I knew it wouldn’t leave but it’s also fun to just kill the ennemies. Three people on my team were not getting on that ship, so appart from legendary or those idiots that just NEVER board, I don’t see why there’s so much fuss about this.
It’s a really short mode and if I can drag it out a little just to have fun (it’s a game) I don’t see why I shouldn’t do it
It’s a team fight though. And you have to account for the rest of the people on your team. I would at least bring it up in chat and see if you guys are doing great and able to handle all the waves. If everyone is fine with extending things, then thats ok… But if it’s only you who is out there fighting and everyone else wants to leave, it is unkind to hold up everyone else.
I don’t mind if people are fighting for a little bit and just clearing the area they were in as the ship comes down, but not getting in for 2 mins or more when everyone else is in there, seems rude to me. It’s even worse when everyone has to leave the ship to come help you, and it ends in a team wipe and fail.
I think it’s best to at least ask before extending the fight. Make sure your team wouldn’t mind it and will help you out with heals/tank/ DPS etc.
I don’t think it makes sense to put an endless mode at the very end. Have that be a different mode we can play in that area of the map. That would be fun. Doing it here though just aggravates the team and causes everyone to lose.
Really hoping for a blue post soon on this!
Big difference between just messing around on normal, which only takes about 10mins to run through, and clawing your way through legendary, which can take 20mins+. It’s a big achievement to even get to the end of expert and legendary, and if that single success is ruined for 3 people because one person is trolling, then you have a design problem.
There are several reasons why you shouldn’t do it unless the whole team agrees.
This is ruining the game mode for many people. I can’t believe it hasn’t been hotfixed yet. I just spent an extra 5 minutes struggling to keep two teammates who wouldn’t get on the ship alive while they farmed kills for no reason. It’s so stupid! Make the ship take off and leave the idiots behind, give the people who are on the ship the win, the ones not on, the loss.
I honestly can’t believe such a glaring design failure hasn’t been hotfixed already. Blizzard really can’t do anything right.
I had a game yesterday when I waited for someone to board the ship. This wasn’t any normal situation though. They were Bastion being damage boosted by a Mercy. However, he was sat in such a place on the dropship that he wasn’t classed as inside but was invulnerable to all the enemies outside. The Heavy Assaults simply approached the dropship and waited!
It took him 30 minutes to realise he wasn’t earning any points!
(5,000 XP isn’t bad though…)
Any chance Blizz will look at this? Honestly, they can’t be oblivious to this issue…
I have had situations like this.
First game the Genji tried to solo the Heavy. I tried to res, died, McCree came to res us, he died, etc.
Second game the McCree was just effing around with the 3 of us screaming group up until he got the hint.
Once the drop ship lands, a timer should start. How long it is could be adjusted for the difficulty modes, but once the timer reaches 0 the ship takes off. Anyone not on gets a Defeat screen and no XP. The people on the ship get 100% XP, a 20% cut of the XP of the troll, and a loot box.

Who is surprised…?
I’m not, honestly.
Admitting that your new game mode is super easy to troll in is a big step because it implies that it is flawed, and therefore you made it flawed.
Based on the OW team’s past behaviors, I don’t think they’re ready to admit that they did something wrong.
