Aiming tips for console?

Aim assist strength? Aim assist window size? Aim smoothing? Aim ease in? Aim technique? I don’t really know what these are and how they affect my game. I’ve heard tips that sensitivity on console should be 100/100, but what about aim assist? While a flat-out recommendation of numbers would be great, I think I’d get more help from a breakdown of how these options would change my aiming (an “explain like I’m five” if you would)

Well I keep my aim 100/100 with aim assist at full. Sometimes that causes problems, like if an enemy zips across my screen it can drag my crosshair out of position. Usually it’s fine. My friend plays on much lower settings (like 25/25 or something) and he does just as well, if not better, than me. My real tips I think are learn to move around with your cursor at head-height, get a good feel for how fast you are able to turn and still lock on to your targets, and try to aim a bit with your body (left stick). If they enemy is jumping side-to-side, it’s easier to match their movements with your own movements rather than try to track them with your cursor (which is where aim assist helps if that’s how you prefer to do it). Mostly it’s just practice though. Deathmatch is great for teaching you how to aim and shoot with new characters.

It’s going to depend a lot on what heros you play

I want to start with the disclaimer that I’ve been platinum for pretty much ever. There is no GM advice here and these are my personal opinions.

1 - Adjust sensitivity per hero, not overall.
2 - Find out if you like Linear Ramp or Exponential Ramp better.
3 - Crosshair. Make sure they are appropriate for the hero and their unique weapon spread. Don’t use the tiny dot on Dva, don’t use the large circle on Widow, etc…

I personally prefer Linear ramp, but to each their own
Good luck!

First of all you should be warned if you do play with changed settings. I play on PS4 and I have used some insane aim settings, some settings make it so easy to play if you can just get them right but thats hard.

Messing with anything but the normal sensitivity will most likely make aiming much more difficult and I suggest keeping everything 80+ and practicing just so that it doesnt feel like you cant control your screen.

I myself dont mess to much with these settings but it is much better to keep everything either 100 or 70-80+ my boyfriend uses settings that are fast but it all depends on your controller, your hands, how much you can do etc. I dont remember his exact settings so I hope what I can provide is useful

Hit default everything

Horizontal 75
Vertical 30
Kontrol freaks (little joystick doodads)

I spent roughly 50 hours trying out different sensitivities for myself on console, different hero settings, crosshairs etc only to play with a beefed up default.

Those simple settings are what I play with now and are by far and large the most success I’ve had period.

Different hero sensitivities are gonna muck you up when you flex. This is a prob for me because I play almost all heroes. If you only play 1 or 2 then by all means fine tune.

Couple button binding tips and other settings.
Flip moira triggers L2 and R2 reverse them.
Flip Zarya triggers
Tracer pulse to L2
Mercy wep swap to L3 and guardian angel prefer beam target OFF
Widow relative aimed sensitivity 75

That’s its. Kontrol freak really do change things dramatically for $10. I use the orange ones.

Good luck!
