Aimbot question

If someone’s aimbot is configured to be “humanised” and to miss shot Le on purpose, does it really give them an advantage?

The fact that they are missing, whether on purpose or not, gives room for counterplay. Now I may be reading these posts wrong but I don’t think I am.

Pls help ty

These “Like-Human” Aimbots & Aim-assists, are all styled differently. It depends on what kind of player is using them, their skill, their hero, sensitivity and the type of aimbot.

Lots of players wont recognize them properly, most out-right just refuse to acknowledge that aimbots, or rather any cheats, exist in this game.

The ones where they ‘seem’ to miss, but 90% of the time they have an aim-assist like tracking and/or lock-on that you have to watch for which is usually within a dozen or 2 pixels center mass of targets hitbox, are the hardest ones to spot. They are pretty subtle, easy to hide, unless their sensitivity is too high where they constantly over shoot, skip on the lock on and make it obvious because it will stick and slip. Think of the Halo games and their aim-assist. Pretty much the same style. Then you have the ones that Rapid fire (Widow, McCree & Ashe), who are dead give aways for these styles of aimbot, granted still hard to spot.

Does it give them an advantage still, yes, because they are playing the blissfully ignorant and the ones who are too stubborn to acknowledge them. The only counter play is to identify, coordinate to shut them down first and everytime they return to repeat.

To keep things clear and consise, here is Blizzard’s definition of cheating:

yeah and you just banned vpn, cloud services and pursuit.gg for no reason. You hinder the community more then you help. So please stop making rules for things you don’t understand blizzard.

These programms all exist cause there is a need for it, but the dev rate of OW is insanely slow, i can program faster then you guys do. you needed for a ahlf baked lfg 2 years…

I have confirmed VPN services are not technically a violation, however they may trigger false alarms for “account sharing” if you configure them incorrectly, which can be appealed.

This is a violation of the End User License Agreement and ensures Blizzard’s software is not distributed illegally.

Pursuit, in my personal opinion, was unfortunate to be banned, but it is because of related programs like Visor that crossed the line. To ensure no gray area, programs that automatically collect data and automates them fall under this definition.

Yeah and thats a bad excuse for cloud services.

Cause this is not my problem, you destroy markets just based on your bad detection of account sharing, btw just make it reportable ingame and do better in detecting what the real problems are, account sharing isn’t one.

and regarding Pursuit: You just don’t want guys to make ow better then you do. You forcefully destoryed a huge technical improvement.

It’s pretty obvious the devs don’t want players to know how well they’re performing compared to other people their rank. If we had that information, then there would be no more denying the flaws in the matchmaker, SR rewarding and comp system in general.

Keeping all of this information hidden fuels the conspiracy theories and White Knight denials on these forums. Could you imagine the backlash if the “forum whiners” were proved right all of a sudden?

If the comp system is working fairly, then why so little transparency? To quote that old TV show The Prisoner, “We want information!”

too bad they dont follow their own rules and ban ppl that get mass reported for asking throwers to switch and help the team am i right

they cant even fix the simple issues with fps’s main mode that made competetive a thing in the genre which is ctf over a year and abilities still affect the flag holder and such things its sad

Can you tell me one thing. Are the Competitive matches “Actively” Moderated by a human other than the players themselves. I realize not every match can be as there would be thousands.

If so or if not, there is not enough being done in the “anti-cheat” scene. I used to moderate several Counter-Strike 1.6 & CS: Source servers. I would be more than happy to just sit back, watch competitive matches and remove offending players actively. I wont play, I want to moderate. I’ll do it for free for at least a month. I already mentioned in another post, I just had a recent match with an Ashe (whom I already reported twice in the same match) that was aimbotting and calling out Bob literally every 15-20 seconds. It was beyond blatant and most of my team refused to acknowledge the Ashe was aimbotting.

If a player is truly cheating it is usually acknowledged by the majority of the team. That being said, this is one reason why blizzard does not allow volunteer services such as CS:GO’s “Over Watch” program. Blizzard Entertainment does have a dedicated hacks team to investigate all cheating reports and use other methods to quickly identify users who are using hacks or exploits to manipulate the state of the game.

I can assure you that it is not worth the risk to use such programs or exploits. Cheating is one of the most serious offenses in the Blizzard code of conduct. In most cases, being caught cheating results in instant permanent ban of your Overwatch account.

they also ban you for false reports… so who cares. Blizzard is not interested in any of community, they just want money, see no content, no real communication, all done behind closed doors.

I guess this answers the question around if throwing down to low ranks and wrecking them is considered cheating from the " engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage" part.

I haven’t heard of any permanent bans from it. So I guess not.

Thanks for the green posts though :), it is always nice to see community engagement

Yet they are the players that are still playing the game versus the ones getting banned suspended silenced for calling them out and the same players that cheat to the top and throwing games because they think its funny.

Plz try harder, the dev team no longer cares about the community i feel it hasn’t after the first year and it shows look how long it took for poor systems to be implemented into the game like lfg and the report system which is laughable at best and run strictly off an algorithm that determines if you get banned or what not based off solely the amount of reports to you it could be spam reports by a single player or two and you can be suspended. The team is not transparent at all only when it comes to a new character coming out and the joke that is the OWL.

To say that if the entire team does not acknowledge someones cheating is a joke and further proves you guyz do not care there is a reason a f2p game is at the top right now and why alotta players are dropping OW mainly due to the piss poor communication by the team and admins of the game to answer questions and actually DO something about the issues plaguing the game since day one thats STILL have not been addressed. Its funny to me that the OW team ONLY cares about competitive OW when it comes to the trash League they made versus the main people playing the game that put down the money and thinking this game would be amazing as time went on. There has been far more changes to the game for OWL solely than there has been lore entry. This game is a shell of what i remember being hyped for when they announced it and how they wanted to make this amazing lore based game but that flew out the window the second OWL was created.

I remember when the team was looking for possible answers to fix Mercy from the 5man rez SO many actual players who didnt like the 5man rez that were Mercy mains gave amazing ideas that the team never even attempted. The removal of iconic vfx and just class based items further proved this game has already headed towards becoming a CoD clone i miss the reaper souls he needed to pick up to heal something they removed because for some reason it was to hard to stay alive that way and instead made it instant or torbjorns shields that made sense because he is a defense character now he doesnt do that at all and is just a dps clown. So before you post contradictory nonsense like how they are against cheating how bout you look at the history of bs they fed the community and the piss poor management decisions of actual fixes to the game.

Its been 2 years since CTF was out and STILL now we have lucio able to speed boost the flag holder a pharah able to fly away with it WHY because the team doesnt care or listen to its community as much as they claim too mi can easily say its Activisions fault but i cant because really its the Overwatch Teams fault.

I doubt Jeff and the team will even look at this post as it shows they want to make this a “SAFE SPACE” even from actual criticism and concerns because god forbid you warn the community about say other players who throw because oh no thats witch hunting when no one is saying to go and message them just avoid them at all costs.

They added alot of systems that do NOTHING to avoid the throwing and leaving of players or avoid entirely. The avoid system is a joke only 3 names for 3-4 days lmfao give me something every game has had for the longest a BLACKLIST or when i block someone it keeps them from being paired with me out right. The Report system as well is completely flawed as i mentioned in the start of this rant that its abused where throwers can mas report a healer who simply asked if they could not throw and play the game because for all they know that Healer only has so much time to play and wants to get better and climb but cant due to said players yet that Healer is GOING to get silenced, suspended, possibly even banned just for asking people to play properly.

But according to you the Dev team cares yea right.

If they cared they would actually speak to the players that play the game on a constant and fix their ingame systems from being abused or overhaul the entire thing and do something better maybe get actual GM’s because really OW needs GM’s to oversee and deal with people its not an MMO but for how big the game is it needs it.

Anyways knowing how my posts normally go this will probably get deleted by the forum admins because im spouting truths but they dont like that and will silence this account

I think they care, but I think they are disconnected. I think they disconnected from the community during the entire Mercy mess.

It was a mess, and I think they lost faith in the community, and the community lost faith in them. It hasn’t been the same since.

They are trying to deal with a LOT of games, and they can not review everything, which is why they rely on automated systems so much. Not because they want to, but, because they have to.

I have no idea how many games of overwatch are played simultaneously around the world at any one time, but, I am guessing it is a lot, even now.

However, cheating is an issue, and one they do take seriously. They will be working on fixes against entire classes of cheating software, but… they may not be good at banning individual people - they have always been bad at that, and I don’t think they will ever get good at it.

I think the loss of the community and Blizzard taking each other seriously is a problem, and I am very guilty of it myself. I honestly don’t think they treat people who throw down to lower ranks as a problem. But, one day they may, it just feels very far away sometimes.

I do know they care about cheating though. Even if it doesn’t feel like it when you are on the receiving end of it.

Community policing of a game has worked well in other games, and… they ARE saying they are working on a new social feature. I expect the feature may be guilds, but… who knows.

Maybe it is something else which will solve our problems.

WyomingMyst isn’t Blizzard. But, they are the closest thing we are getting to engagement from them. Lets not drive them off in anger.

Before this conversation continues any farther, I feel that many of you feel that I represent Blizzard. This is not correct. A forum MVP/green text poster is a member of the community known to provide positive contribution, knowledge, and assistance to other players. I myself am a tech support MVP so I help a lot of players with technical issues, but I am a player and hardcore fan of Overwatch, like all of you so I enjoy providing discussion, facts, and my own personal opinions where appropriate.

I haven’t seen a valid case of false reporting in Overwatch. In fact, I rather see such claims fall flat when evidence is provided that the user’s ban is actually justified. Here is one such example:

Disruptive behavior such as trolling and toxicity is naturally a more gray area. I myself once fell into toxic behavior back in season 3 (and dropping to bronze) on a single bad night of Overwatch. Should we permanently ban players who lose their temper once? I don’t believe so. Warned or given an appropriate action such as a silence or suspension. Yes, but give players an honest chance to return. In the post I linked above, the user spent all of their chances and failed to change their ways and was eventually perma-banned. However, Blizzard does work to determine the difference between a person who is having a bad night versus a person who is inherently toxic.

This is not true, when Overwatch first launched, it had a full fledged “Avoid this Player” tool. Once activated on a player, you never see them again. However, it was removed because it did a lot more harm than good. As a player who has been playing this game since launch, I believe the game is in a far better state than what it was 2 and a half years ago in terms of policy and providing ways for players to have fun. Is there a lot to be worked on? Hell yes, but I know they are working on it and I will be patient and continue to try to be a positive influence in the community.

Be assured that this is more or less speculation. Remember devs have been appearing frequently in Twitch streams thanks to the new Overwatch Creator’s Residency program at Blizzard HQ. In fact the two most recent interviews with Game Director Jeff Kaplan has shined a lot of light on developers seeing our feedback and we know they are working to continue to improve Overwatch.

the reason is simble: Blizz is applying his own rules whats toxic: Calling someone bad noob is not toxic, its the truth. You want a forced peacfull world, won’T work and is clearly not working. So your point is invalid by definition. Blizz shouldn’T take car eof reports at all, should be done by community exclusivly.

I firmly disagree with this, as someone who has experience with other communities of popular media, I have found that establishing a set of rules that determine proper expected behavior is more successful than those who have no rules and allow the community to moderate themselves. I have seen this in trading card games that I used to participate in the most.

it clearly is not working  YOU get insta report for anything you say thats not nice and flushy… and bliz accepts that.

Steevoo and fuey500 both had to get white listed cause they kept getting reported and banned falsely.

Arrge top 500 Hanzo main got banned due to false reports and his appeals were declined even though he had full games recorded on his stream… he got unbanned after making a reddit post.
