Hey all! I’ve been using the vs AI to learn new heroes and try out things with my mains.
we of course have the three levels: Casual, Hard, and Lethal
How difficult are these actually meant to be? Would you consider the Casual AI to be bronze level, or lower?
And what would you categorize the other two as?
I’m trying to make a generalized comparison in my mind to gauge what I’m working with.
Of course, the AI is very different from real gameplay, but I’m just very curious as so how hard these are supposed to be in comparison to levels in the game.
Thanks for any input
TLDR: what play level would you think Casual AI, Hard AI, and Lethal AI could be (loosely) compared to?
In OW1, I think AI was probably at best comparable to bronze at best. Maybe low silver if someone is trying out a new hero for the first time and really struggling with how to make hte kit work.
The AI’s best cheat is just aim botting, but you can beat aim botting knowing they won’t playing intelligently.
Ya like the person above me said, the issue with ranking the ai is that they don’t strategize at all. The closest thing to strategy they have is leaving spawn as a group. Sounds nice but their only play is to int towards the objective with no regards to sightlines, pathing, cooldown usage, etc… so it doesnt amount to much.
Their aim improves. The lethal/“aimbot” ones can sometimes one or two-shot you out of nowhere… but it’s hard to say what skill level they are approximating when the aim is so far ahead of everything else.
A group of bronzes can easily beat the lethal AI consistently. The bots have no skill besides aimbot and other cheats (Zarya can bubble allies without LoS for example). They group up, take alternating paths to the objective, move in a weird back and forth pattern, will solo ult to save their lives, and will all focus on the first player they see, often chasing after the player with highest damage while totally ignoring the low hp or support player standing nearby.
On aim ability and tracking, they’re God-tier. On literally everything else, they’re bot-tier.
They hard focus on getting to the objective. I put a bunch of AI on Aimbot (hardest) in a custom game and when I hung around their spawn they would look at me but not shoot and just beeline to the objective. This made it very easy to kill them all because they would focus on getting to the objective first.
