It’s weird! I go in and heal my teammates and I almost get my brains blown out by a widowmaker but the reinhardt stepped in with his shield. Then all of the sudden a flash of a big figure and a fist of steel pummels me to a wall. I fall over lifeless then suddenly the man starts aggressively crouching on me and flees the scene. Can someone explain to me if this was some type of ritual??? So weird!!

Yes, i’ve been playing multiplayer FPSes since Doom, tho i didn’t really get into it until Half-life. Rather interesting how FPSes have evolved over the years, both in the game and socially.

Mostly I take ahem tactical crouching ahem as a veiled compliment. Your impact was noticeable to them to the extent where they feel like they need to highlight the fact that they were able to take you on.
Where the real BM happens is when you ult someone’s corpse. That’s a whole different box of beans. Then they are letting you know that the match is so easy that they don’t even need their ult to win, and will throw it away to show you their confidence.

I grew up with lan parties and computer cafe’s. Where clan wars can end with your “clan” going to the rival gaming shop with chains and two by fours.
Compared to that era where we literally slammed chairs on the back of peoples heads, these days all you can do is throw words at each other. It’s not as “impactful” so people put more effort and creativity into their swearing trying to somehow get the same effect (Still better than going home with a bloody eye). Which is why i feel like were going backwards where the words we used to rile the other guy up is considered too offensive for “modern” sensibilities and can get your banned. t-bagging (an imitation of a physical act) isn’t offensive, but calling each other “gay” is?
TLDR: T-Bagging is a rape joke that became normalized.

It’s the ritual of a gamer that is threatened by you.
The crouching is also a representation of their lack of skill by feeling the need to stay in one spot and feed to eliminate the man advantage that they just got.
Moral of the story, let them crouch so that your teammates can kill them easier
