Because competitive isn’t designed for success.
It is designed to fail you but sprinkle in moderate success for the false perception that you have a chance and sink in more hours.
How far in the negative were you from demotion protection before the win? Also report this in the bug forum.
this man knows.
100% facts.
i.e. ranked is meant to keep you playing, not to be fair (which is also why winrate is rigged)

1st reply seems to answer this
Do we have any idea how this idea isolated and just all the others are handled by the matchmaker? how does it do this to all 10 players while keeping queue times under like 4 minutes in most metal ranks?
the answer as to why that is is staring you in the face: demotion protection. if you would demote, the game doesnt show you on the bar how much points you are into the lower rank. instead next game you get shown the difference of the sr loss from when the demotion protection kicked in and this game (the win).
similiarly: if you lose a game, get demoted and lose another one, next time you will be shown the sum of both losses.
Did you have derank protection from previous match? If you did then it will combine results from 2 games so that you stil lose points even if you win 2nd match but wont get deranked and have to rerank up.
reading the replies to this thread is baffling. its insane how many ppl seem to look at this screenshot and genuinely have no idea why op is seeing what hes seeing.
cause people arent interested in explanations so much as they are wanting to just be able to say that something isnt working or is to blame…
there are many dev responses to most topics…if people are willing to look for them
i still have WyomingMist’s dev log bookmarked for easy access to many of them
You were in demotion protection.
You lost your previous game, and the score was put in a bank. The next game you won and the score from that bank was reduced.
You did not lose points from the win, you just see the combined SR of the last two games on this screen.
Similar thing can happen if a match is cancelled due to leavers, which is more of a visual bug.
ie. the next match after that may also show a “combined result”.
Because it is supposed to mismatch you.
Rank is literally just a blank number on paper. Game quite genuinely isn’t designed to follow it.
People like to push a narrative that suits their needs for blaming any external factor, no matter how far fetched it is.
Granted anyway that the UI in demotion protection could be clearer.
Probably.
At the same time, the majority of competitive games do this. It is an industry standard.
But if you’re good you will win so like what’s the issue?
You could be the next coming of Jesus and still lose due to uncoordinated teams.
Not me, I’m built different.
