Listen to me: everyone says genji is seen everywhere in the low ranks: that would mean he is super popular, so it should be the same in top 500, right?
Yet no, he’s one of the least seen dps there, even if he’s super popular anywhere else.
This weekend we saw pros play a very diversified meta. Yet there was one hero we only saw twice, both times on havana for 3minutes. One did not get a blade in 4min, the other was sparkle, which is arguiably the best genji in the world.
What will it take, blizzard, for you to make the most fun and popular pick in the game relevant?
genji being a fun hero is subjective. not everybody is fond about him but he is indeed one of the more popular heroes. the unfortunate thing is sometimes people confuse him for being “powerful” because he’s seen a lot but never really understand what makes him “good.”
you see, genji suffers the same problem with how other popular characters work in different games: People often complain and moan when they see a common character being played against them no matter what state theyre in. Even if theyre the worst character in their game. Sometimes they would confuse them for being OP just for how often they see them which in some cases its true, but in other cases its not. Genji is not at all OP but is considered underpowered with the game’s standards and power level today. Genji is often confused as OP because in lower ranks simply hes picked a lot in the areas where the general skill set is much lower to handle him and consists the majority of the OW community population (thus hearing more complaining).
God how I hate people who say this. You are probably also the kind of person who then complains when support players say “DPS just want support to be free kills”
Hitscan are dominate because we gutted barriers, their only natural counter. If you recall, during OG double barrier, it was mei/reaper/doomfist that was the meta dps.
