I just had a thought that with the number of key bindings required for Overwatch as the game has grown more advanced, with all character abilities and then the interact button, I had a thought for an option for players to free up some space. It would borrow from Apex a little bit but it’d definitely be worth it to controller players that use the D-Bad for all of the extra stuff.
We have an emote menu, a spray menu, a voiceline menu, and a comms menu. All of which are customizable. This is awesome and was a very welcome change. But perhaps we could add an additional menu similar to Apex. There, players can bind emotes, voicelines, holo sprays, etc.
If we add this as an additional option to Overwatch, it would allow people to have the customizations they want on a single menu, and leave button space for other menus. Like for example, interact bound to one button, communication wheel (Push, fall back whatever) on one, this new option on another, and finally that would leave one final D-Pad button for the new ping system.
I suggest this because literally every other button is occupied. For example I have switch weapon bound to left stick, melee to right, then of course all of the regular buttons have bindings already. Without this I’m going to have to chose one spray, one emote, one whatever or one menu to have for my last d-pad button. This has long been a frustration for me and I’m sure other console players as well.
PC players don’t really have this problem, but they could still reap the same benefit by consolidating space without losing their options.
Unless of course I’m totally dumb and this is already an option and it’s just in a weird spot I can’t find or couldn’t figure out.
