Bringing back role swapping would add another layer of teamplay that I think would be great for the game. The way it works would be initially the same as it is now when role-queuing and entering a game with an assigned role, but as soon as the countdown finishes and the round starts (all players able to leave spawn room) role swapping is officially open and any player can swap roles in the spawn room. However, there’s a catch, if the current role a player has just swapped to is over-limit, that player won’t be able to leave the spawn room until they either switch back to an open role or someone from the over-limit role switches roles.
This I think is the best way to bring the advantages from both role-queue and open-queue together in a single format.

So why not just always queue for your lowest rank role then swap to your best role?
This could also lead to throwing if you get too many players who main the same role and nobody wants to swap.
I would prefer to either bring back 6v6 and if they wont do that then make it 5v5 with 1 dps instead of 1 tank.

I feel like, at any moment any player hits the H button, there are an assortment of heroes they should and shouldn’t be able to pick from based on the current comp.
Like, if you have one tank, DPS & support players will have the option to switch to tank. But if Blizzard’s data shows that three tanks is unfair, then further swaps to tank won’t be allowed until someone gets off tank.
They could have done this from the beginning instead of locking us into 1/2/2. The whole attraction of OW used to be swapping heroes. It was a bullet point on the website.

This can easily be solved by just making it a whole new mode
id like to see a something that paladins does it where you can vote a character that cant be used.
I think this will come, where there’s more heroes with more overlap.
Right now the hero pool is too small.
