Please make this a thing, Blizzard. There are so many people I’ve had conversations with on these forums that I’d love to add as a friend and play some games with. A personal message system would be great, too.

I mean, that is kinda what the battlenet launcher is for, you can add people by their battle tags, and it will tell you when they are on and what they are playing, and it has a pm system
It would be a nice way for console and PC players to become friends on an Overwatch platform.

That would be nice, but for people look for people on their platform, I say use that platform’s friending and messaging system
You need to find the battletags in the first place to add them. The only way I know to do that is by searching their name on Overbuff and adding them from the battlenet client. I think it should just be made easier by adding an “add friend” feature from the forums themselves, and being able to send PM’s to non-friends.

Another plus is that you can friend request or maybe follow people on the forums so you can keep up with their posts, rather than having to find their battletag by scrolling through forums.
You need the full battletag to add someone as a friend, including the serial number in their name. That doesn’t show in either their forum profile or their activity.
When you get to their forum profile look at the URL, it should have their full battle tag in the url

Didn’t know that, thanks. That makes it easier. It’s still should be made into an easy to access feature, though.
Click on someone’'s name, go to view profile, look at the URL, copy that name and replace the hyphen with a #, that’s their battle tag. If they’re on console it should just be the name you need to add.

False, unless they copy their whole game tag as their battle tag, it won’t work, for instance, my battle tag is Sunsethippo-1757, but my gamertag is Sunsethippo 9403
For console people, you gotta go to their career profilr
I meant just for adding console players for their respective platform, If I wanted to friend you on XBL all I would have to type is SunsetHippo9403. I don’t actually see your battle tag for some reason on your profile and I assume it’s because you play on console so it just uses that to identify you. There’s no hyphen in that extension though so there’s no mistaking it for a battle tag.

A forum member’s battle tag is viewable either by hovering over their name with your mouse, or you can click on their name to pull up their profile, and their battle tag will be at the end of the URL.
For example, your Battle tag is Problemist#11954
