As more skins come to Overwatch and as said skins get more and more interesting and cool, I find it hard to just pick one skin to use. Some skins look cool, some skins have hidden meaning to me, and other skins just costed a lot. I play a lot of characters but I feel like I have picked my One Skin that I use for most of those characters. I want to use and buy more skins, but can’t justify NOT using some of them and constantly forget to switch between rounds (most of the time I’m even alt-tabbed before games start).
I think a perfect addition to Overwatch and one that would even help the skin market is a “Favorite Skin” button. With this, you could label any amount of skins as your “Favorite skins” for each hero. Then, instead of picking one skin to use at any time, you could choose to equip “Random Favorite Skin”, which would cycle through those skins randomly each match or round. You could see your skin before each round and could still change it if you don’t like it.
I had the idea that we should have this in game when I was actually scrolling the shop. I feel like I want to buy more skins, but can’t justify buying skins I won’t use. My favorite hero is Reinhardt, and I want more skins for him such as the new Cardboard skin. The tricky thing is, I own his old Philly Fusion skin and that means a lot to me, so I can’t justify picking a different skin in my mind. However, simply having the skin in a rotation is good enough for me and I could more easily buy more skins knowing that I would eventually get use out of them.
I feel like this feature wouldn’t be too difficult to implement and other games like Fortnite have done it quite well. I think this feature could even be implemented for other items in the hero gallery such as gun charms, Voice Lines, or sprays. You could even set specific parts of emote or voice line wheels to be random while others stay the same.
