Add role limits to Overwatch

I’m thinking that a system that limits the amount of each role should be added to the game. Once the limit for a role is reached, it’s locked for the rest of the teammates.

Here would be the limits:
2 Damage
3 Support
3 Tank
(With a caveat that Brigitte counts as a Tank AND Support simultaneously so you can’t pick full GOATs)

This would be a wild west showdown at first and cause major backlash BUT over time it would make people more comfortable flexing because one-tricking a role simply wouldn’t be possible.

Also, this system would encourage people to have open profiles and be in chat so they could negotiate to make the best team comps.

It would also be impossible to have a full team without having at least one Support and one Tank due to the limits in place

No, this would encourage people to instalock DPS before their teammates can.

wich 99.9% of players already do
and sometimes one of the immediate 3 dps picks swapps off to another role

Yeah, at first. But everyone would end up having games where DPS was taken so they would get more used to flexing

Fine but keep it out of QP.

How about just:
2maximum Healers
For Comp/Pro

It wouldn’t necessarily make the instlocking worse, but it would certainly increase toxicity if all DPS are taken. There would also likely be more cancelled matches because of players who didn’t lock DPS quick enough

Triple Support is fine, Triple Tank is fine. Just not together.

They would most likely just leave if they want to play DPS but it’s taken

Triple Support is a genuine problem.

But probably only for Masters/GM/Pro.

Personally, I think it’s cool. Your Lucio/Zen have to be pulling off some major mechanically skilled play to make it work.

I think it’s an extreme risk to a Tournament format that has a Billion dollars invested into it, and nearly unfixable through balance before OWL stage 1 or stage 2.

Thats lame. why limit creativity like this? i’d much rather seem them create a hero to counter goats then down right get rid of it. and why make brigitte specially count as multiple roles. zenyatta and moira are dps/support hyrbids, roadhog is argubly more dps then tank, doing this to brigitte specifally so you don’t have to worry about a team comp you hate seems weird.

Which is fine in Comp. they lose 50SR and I don’t have to have a hot mess of a game

You think 2-2-2 or 3-3 is required for competitive, I can tell you it isn’t. I have won plenty of competitive matches with 3, 4 or even 5 DPS. 2-2-2/3-3 does not matter unless you’re playing in a pro match or GM/T500 on PC

I don’t think running Winston, DVa, Zen, Lucio, Brig, Sombra will kill the game.

Or Rein, Zarya, Ana, Lucio, Brig, McCree etc.

3-2-1 comps are much more interesting than GOATs

I think if OWL falls down hard, it’s taking this entire game and this entire company down with it.

Nobody in their right mind would think an “eSports Shooter” is fine without “Shooters”, for any extended amount of time.

No, you don’t solve community problems with artificial limits. Limits should only be use to solve issues of balance, like the move from unlimited heroes to one hero as we had in the past.

So a move to 2-2-2 as a way to open the door to more fine tuned hero balance with in a team structure? Ok.
Move to just stop bad team players from throwing 4 dps pick into a team and forcing one of them to be tank? No, that’s a community issue and I’m fine with those players losing games being they can’t build a decent team comp.

That’s fine and probably true. My system would require one Damage hero on each team because of the Brigitte rule, which allows much more variety

Luckily blizzard knows better, forced roles/team comp it ain’t happenin. You want those things? Use LFG
