Some players are able to complete all 11 weekly challenges before time expires, after that’s done there isn’t much point in playing (aside from enjoyment)
Rework the weekly rewards from
30/20/10 OW2 coins rewarded for 4/8/11 challenges completed
to
10/20/30/40/50 OW2 coins rewarded for 3/6/9/12/15 challenges completed
This increases the maximum OW2 coins earnable per week from 60 to 150 for dedicated players, allowing them to essentially always have enough coins for the BP with enough playtime
Can’t you just enjoy the game however you want regardless? OW2 coins gained from weeklies are just a bonus. Most are attained just through normal play as it is
Coins are the main way to get anything in this game, including every now and then a battlepass meaning they have a gameplay advantage in the speed of which you unlock new heroes.
I didn’t state that. I said didn’t like this specific idea because the challenges limit freedom. Not liking this specific idea =/= being open to more ways to earn coin in general.
Can you tell me what about this suggestion makes it worse that you say “absolutely not”?
Currently you can earn up to 60 coins with 11 challenges. With this suggestion you can earn that same 60 coins in 9 challenges (not a huge difference, but still better) and then an extra 90 with 6 more challenges.
Seems better in every way, particularly for the dedicated playerbase.
Allowing for enough coins to always have a battlepass is huge and gives a competitive advantage. So, those of us who want a battlepass and to have unlocks available as much as possible are of course going to want to get it. The problem with the weeklies are they all things that have strong influences on how you play the game, for example, asking you to queue for all roles. So until they are done, it is difficult to play with total freedom to play the way you want to play.
A new hero comes out every other season (18 weeks) and you can earn 60 coins per week, meaning you can have 1080 coins earned in time for every hero.
These changes would just make it so more people are able to have the new hero every battle pass just through playing for free. It not only reduces the amount of challenges required to earn the original 60 OW2 coins, but adds extra weeklies to earn another 90 OW2 coins.
As I look at the weeklies now only a handful of them require to you play in any particular way. Doesn’t adding more challenges, going from 11->15, open up the possibility to add more weeklies that are just earned through normal play instead of particular ways?
Like the “queue for all roles” might still be one of the 15 challenges, but instead of having to do that one you could just casually complete a different one through normal play because there are now more weeklies to complete. But at the same time, if you still want to complete that challenge you can.
Couldn’t we encourage getting coins by leveling up on whatever you feel like doing instead of adding new tasks for amounts that are always too low for any type of purchase?
you know, sometimes it’s really hard to digest seeing this battle pass reminder all the time, regardless if you didn’t buy it or you did and you’re getting some stupid titles after 80 levels.
Not really. There’s ones that require queueing for specific modes, but there’s also ones that require things like getting assists. Easy to do if play support, but if I wanted to play damage, then it becomes a lot harder. Some of them also exclude modes like total mayhem.
If it was something like add rewards for leveling up like the other poster suggested, I could do anything I want.
I honestly play the game a lot less, in part, because of the weeklies.
Doesn’t adding weeklies that are completed through normal play do that?
150 coins per week comes out to 1350 coins per season, that’s enough for the BP every season + some.
So once again I ask… doesn’t adding more weeklies that are completed just through normal play help with this issue??? Instead of having to play a particular way to complete those handful of weeklies that require it, just play normal and you’ll still get the 60 coins per week if not more
yes, but I mean that you add other Tasks to do weekly. there are many people who don’t really want to do ALL tasks in their spare time. For example, I don’t always feel like doing all-roles or arcade queue every single week if there’s nothing interesting that week. or reaching the number of 250 assists without being able to use characters that accumulate too few.
it is already extremely questionable that the developers have blocked the players’ freedom to purchase with the shop that has a weekly rotation, why create this other anxiety to stay in the game and not always with the satisfaction of having just done a leveling up?
I like the idea of having challenges solely for the fun of it for people who want to, but should have no reward for doing so (or at most something like a spray showcasing your accomplishment - e.g. like achievement rewards). They should a be fun little mini-metagame for those interested.
Otherwise rewards just encourage people to grind/farm things they don’t want to do (i.e. playing game modes or roles/heroes they dislike) so they dont miss out on whatever tiny bit of XP or coinage it rewards them with. This just creates matches with higher skill variability due to people not playing things they’re familiar with, and are not doing things they find fun so they dont try.
LMAO! I did not expect this at all… I’m against this proposal, personally, as I only complete 5 weeklies in a week’s span, so this would rob me of 20 lolCoins.
