I’ve been doing some custom games with Medium/Hard A.I.s to practice my heroes (so I can fall into proper comps and avoid idiots altogether) and I notice there is a HUGE amount of heroes missing from the Bots list. With the rooster being largely limited to Roadhog, Zarya, Ana, Lucio, Zenyatta, McCree, Reaper, Soldier and Mei. Thats all fine and dandy for some simple comps, but for the sake of practicing your heroes against different counters and such, how about blizzard adding the other heroes onto the bots list? Is there some technical issue preventing it? Such as the mechanics of heroes like Moira, Reinhardt and Tracer not fitting into an A.I. programing? Would be really good to know if such thing is possible, I find a full A.I. custom game very relaxing and useful for training while being self-dependable, and would make it better to fill these gaps.
While playing vs AI can be a lot more relaxing, using it as a means to practice will actually likely make you much worse in PvP. The enemy AI doesn’t play anything like a human player does, so you’ll be training yourself against a bunch of predictable bot movement and behaviors. Human players react very differently, so in terms of practicing vs your counters, you won’t get much value. You’re better of practicing your basic mechanical skills separately and then watching higher ranked players on Twitch/youtube play your favored hero and see how they approach their counters.
thanks ^^ and although it’s not a complete training, vs AI did help me increase some of my flicks, aim and overall awareness, I know bots can be predictable, but as a support main, this really helps me get at least acquainted to my desired DPSs of choice. But yea, it’s 70% relaxation and 30% training.
Programming AI is challenging. The bots that are in currently are braindead pushovers even on the hardest difficulty. Most of the heroes in Overwatch have fairly complex kits, which is why the heroes available for AI selection are mostly ones that can point and click and get the job done.
