Add avoid player as enemy/team mate

There are way too many people who just straight up admit to being smurfs in ranked nowadays, and if you report them you have to wait for the report to go through/action to be taken, so you can’t queue up again and have to wait. At that point, I usually just give up and close the game and play something else. It would be nice if we had the option to just completely avoid someone in your game at all, on your team and the enemy team so I could still keep playing and not have to worry about people who straight up say in chat that they’re a smurf or are boosting their friend or something. It’s way too common, Blizzard.

I agree that more avoid spots is needed considering this very issue. The reason that it is not put into the game is the que times. Imagine how much length it would add to the que times if everyone had 4 spots intead of 3? It would be by an insane amout. Not to forget that if you duo que with someone you already have 6 spots and with 4 being a thing a duo would have 8 avoid slots.

In higher elos (not gold, plat, dia) this very thing would be a cause for issues. As one would be far less likely to find a game if everyone were to have so many avoid spots available.

You know 99% of the time they’re lying right?

I’ve had people link their boosting website and smurfing streams before.

I’m sure that’s happening like once a day

Are you refering to the statement Sweaters said about smurfs, Pnutapi?

I would be inclined to agree to such. The majority of smurfs (people who are lvl 30 to 120) in gold/plat/dia are actually the rank they’re smurfing in. A lot of people prefer to play on lower level accounts due to getting more support from their teammates.

The enemy tends to also fear whatever person is of low level, one could say it is like a play of the mind.

Step 1. Put everyone that are better on you on the avoid as enemy list
Step 2. Win every game because all your opponents are bad
Step 3. Go pro in Overwatch agaisnt noobs because you have put everyone else on the avoid list
Step 4. Become god of Overwatch

It’s near impossible to have an account lower than 1 rank below your real rank without hard throwing which gets picked up quite quickly, I’ve got 5 accounts and I can barely keep them down even playing my worst heroes, people seem to think they’re getting GM widows in their gold game and it’s crazy

I don’t play every day so I wouldn’t know. But it happens way more often than it should.

I would disagree on such a statement.

I can understand how that might be the case and such would be true for me as well if I solo qued. I did try this 1.5 year ago. Wanting to try to practice Sombra more. When I played with my mercy main friends I was hardstuck in platinum. Once they took a break off the game for a week I instantly climbed to master.

I think getting a gm in a gold game is very likely and possible. That is if the person being GM did their placements with a much lower ranked friend. Due to the lower ranked friend most likely belong in that rank. The person trying to boost them will have a hard time. Therefor ending up placing around the same as their friend.

  • Which I’d argue is why certain smurfs who are actually one rank or more above the rank they’re in get so such a rank. Without actually having thrown to get there.
  • Yes some people throw to get to lower ranks but it is not often the main reason. People playing with friends is more often the case.

I don’t want smurfs on my team, either. I just don’t want them in my game, period.

Well, once Im god of Overwatch I can make that happen

Queueing is weird because ityou have to carry an obviously worse player consistently,if I were to guess you gained some SR then went stagnant, also for placements I can’t see any way which a GM can be placed even close to gold, when I moved to pc my roles were placed from 2600-3k and that’s with 0 mechanics so I just can’t see anyone placing lower without abusing a system or throwing

Lol I wish, please papa Jeff

I have seen it happen several times and it has to do with if one takes quickplay seriously or not. I hate to break your bubble but GM is not as good as people make it up to be. It is simply people who somewhat know what they’re doing but not really.

I can give you yet another example. 4 months ago I made a new account which I took very seriously in quickplay making sure I got good mmr (my mmr being 3800 to 4600 SR in qp. I know because i checked peoples profiles).

Can you guess what happened? I lost my first placement game which was in gold. Having 81 eliminations, 4 deaths and 35.5k Hero damage n a 17min game. To lose with such insane stats sounds like madland and it truly was. This was solo Q as well just to note.

When one loses the first placement (out of 5 it being 10 before) one drastically reduces ones mmr. Even though I played well I will still get put in platinum or gold for the rest of my placements due to this first game where I screwed up.

Where do you think I placed?
3004 SR. Ended up climing to 3740 before quitting for the day, 4 hour playtime done. I lost a bunch of games in diamond but managed to pick it up again.

A note; I really really struggled to win in plat during my placements for the next 4 games even though those were won. It was an immese struggle.

If someone of higher rank solo ques placements alone they’re far more likely to place gold or plat. If I had qued with someone who is master yes then i would not have placed as low. It just goes to show that a GM can indeed place gold.

another note; A plat/gold player sometimes have better aim than a GM, but such bad gamesens that it keeps them from ranking up.
