Add an option to let Echo use the player's own equipped skin when she duplicate other heroes

I don’t know if anyone here cares about wanting to use certain skins or not after duplicating a hero as Echo

But I wonder if they can add this option in the current version of Overwatch or in Overwatch 2, but it would be nice if the players use Echo’s Ult, they have a choice to copy their own skins they equipped for that hero rather than the skins that the enemy heroes they targeted has (teammates in Archive missions)

One of my friend who likes playing Archive missions for fun on normal difficulty do not like duplicating some of his teammates as Echo because he doesn’t like certain skins they have equipped and don’t want his duplicated hero to have that equipped as well even if it only last for 15 seconds. So I think having that options would be nice.

Also if an Echo has a league skin equipped, would it be nice if any of the heroes she copies have the same team league skin as her too regardless if the players bought league skins of the same team for other heroes or not?

Please go easy, just want to kindly suggest and wonder if that options could be possible

You do know that Echo’s whole stick is copying others… it would not make sense to have the own equipped skin.
I also imagine it’s due to technical difficulties, as they don’t have all models, every character, every skin, loaded at every given time.

I mean enemies can’t even switch characters as long as Echo copies them ffs.

I’m sorry, not wanting to be rude, but that’s really just petty.
Especially since you are glowing bright blue and can’t make out skins properly anyway-

You literally can’t see which league skin is equipped during her ult because she is glowing blue

Echo copies the hero in general and abilities besides having 6.5x faster ult charge. Skin doesn’t really change anything to the gameplay honestly.
If there’s any technical limitations, that’s understandable. For example not being able to switch heroes until the ult is over. But I wonder that it shouldn’t be a problem allows players to use their own skin because whenever they switch off to another hero in the spawn, they’ll have the skin they equipped for that hero.

Rare skins are pretty much impossible to distinguish since it’s just a basic recolor, for legendary and sometimes epic skins however. Even if it’s bright blue and can’t see the color of the skin, you can still clearly see the shape of the skin models. When I look at replays or if players look closely at the skin it’s pretty noticable.

When I looked closely, I can STILL see the team logo and the name of the team

Overall, you sound like you really don’t care about the skins when it comes to copying teammates with Echo’s ult. I only just wonder if there’s anyone that do mind about it.

Yeah, I really don’t and neither should anybody else. When you ult you should focus on the game more than ever, instead of marvelling at the weapon you can see.
It is literally for 15 seconds max and if you have time to look at what skin you are have on, you are doing something wrong.

I don’t know about skins, but I’d like to be able to emote while using Echo’s Ult >.>

You know you can’t really force people to change their mind what they think about it or tell them to not care or forget about it. Also, I of course don’t use ult to just look at the skin during game since we have to focus and all, I only do that in custom game or practice range, so please don’t think I’m all stupid and wrong or anything. But who knows, some players out there may enjoy using certain skins and feel better that way playing effectively while they could dislike how certain skins looks ugly or bad to them and might feel uncomfortable to play the game properly and have trouble focusing. Everyone could be different, some might affect or feel more how they look while others like you don’t care.

And also I said this at the end, please go easy… It’s just my suggestions, not demanding to have this option right away.

I think the blue is meant to specifically highlight her as a major threat that has rapidly accelerated ult gain in the same way Nanoboosted heroes glow. I don’t think it’s a good idea to disguise them.

Or do you mean mean duplicate their costume but still have them palette swapped “Echo blue”? Regardless, I dunno if it would be a very noticeable change for the amount of work required…

Its a fun idea i guess, but just seems like unnessecary work for the devs.

iirc echo does copy skins or was it only for PvE ?

Yeah I won’t really affect much in the game. At the same time however though, I have met some players who doesn’t like the fact that they have to copy and use the skins others have and not their own. Maybe because they don’t feel like themselves using the skins they don’t like or that everyone has different preferences on how they want to look. Some just like to use any skins randomly, while others could be very specific.

The skins are good, the only thing I’m mad about is that we can’t use the enemy’s emotes or sprays :triumph::triumph::triumph:

I don’t get why players want to use enemy’s emotes or sprays rather than their own. I mean even if they have the same stuff, the player’s personalty and playstyle still won’t always be the same as the player they copied. Don’t everyone have different preference?

That’s why her Ultimate is called Duplicate, it duplicates the enemy, not your hero gallery.

Yeah, but do you think that also mean the player will have the EXACT same playstyle and personality as the other when they duplicate them? Even if they duplicate their character and their abilities? Eh… I don’t think so

I can’t speak for Springey, but I was thinking my own emotes (right now you can’t emote while Duplicated period.)

That said, I like their idea of it being the enemies emotes too.

It would be nice to still use emotes with a duplicated heroes, however since some emotes, especially the laughing ones require the heroes voice clips, I guess they were concerned if would give too much work for Echo’s voice actress. I don’t know if that could be why they haven’t planned about using emotes yet.

But what’s any difference between using your own emotes and the enemies emotes? Can’t everybody already use all the emotes once they have it unlocked?

Yeah, but Echo won’t duplicate the playstyle and personality of the duplicated player playing the hero, I really see no problem echo duplicating the enemy’s emotes, sprays and skin, if it would just take all the cosmetics from your hero gallery, we could just rename the ult to ‘Duplicate own Hero Gallery’ or similar. It just loses its meaning if it doesn’t duplicate the enemy.

My apologies by the way. Maybe because player can already use the same emotes, sprays, and skin if they have it unlocked… But I guess it’s alright to borrow it briefly.

I guess the only issue I seem to be concerned is that since they copy the enemy, I don’t really want players to mock other that they’re better than you just because they get the ult charge 6.5x faster even though they only stay duplicated for 15 seconds

I guess copying skins isn’t that all bad in general. However if the player copies the other player’s league skin of the team they like, it sometimes doesn’t make sense copying their skin, especially if they’re not interesting in certain teams at all or if they are rooting for a different team.

This is such like a minor thing…

Not mad if it’s introduced but I suspect Echo already has caused some technical difficulties to overcome, this might just over do it

Echo copies the targeted enemy hero’s skin as well. However the texture will still be glowing pixel blue. And in PvE, she can copy teammates and their skins as well. The only enemy she can copy in PvE are B73-NS (For Bastion) and OR-14 NS (For Orisa) in Uprising
