Add a third point to Assault/2CP maps

Overwatch is not the same without 2CP. Assault maps are the most iconic maps of the game and I loved every one of them.

Anubis, Hanamura, Volskaya, Paris and Horizon should return to unranked and competitive. Arcade is not the optimal way to play them and Hanaoka, despite being a good map, does not have the same way of playing as Hanamura (atack round/defense round).

I was thinking of a way to bring them back, but without changing their main structures or the way they are played.

The solution is not to change them but to expand them with a third point (3CP). It may seem like it won’t change anything, but it is important to reduce stress for both attackers and defenders.

The first point should be easy to capture. In Paris there was only one entrance which in some cases caused the attacking team to not even capture the first point. More entries would have to be added so that it could be captured more easily. Maybe you think that’s it, there is no need to add a third point, but the problem would be that reducing the difficulty of capturing the first point would cause a disadvantage to the defense team, so the third point would balance the round and it would solve another problem that was happening especially in Volskaya. In Volskaya (comp) there were many matches that lasted 3 full rounds because there was a lot of time left.

That’s why flash point exists

They’ve said that rather than spend time and resources trying to make big reworks to the 2CP maps like that, they’d prefer to just make new maps. Hence why Clash exists.

In the playtest it literally used the Hanamura soundtrack though

Flashpoint is a competition to take every point.

Assault maps have a team who defend the point and a team that tries to take it.

The problem is that instead of leaving them as they are, they removed them from the main game. They’re not even in Arcade this season.

Hanaoka is played like a control map. The fun thing about assault maps was having a defense round and an atack round.
