You know how in the beginning of the match it would highlight a random hero and you have to move your mouse to choose the hero you want. Why not have an option in the setting to default highlight a hero of your choice every game so that you then only have to press enter to select it. This simple feature will add convenience for a lot of us.

I think it is the way it is to subliminally encourage a wider selection of heroes from players

Honestly, I think that would encourage insta locking even more. Which is probably why they haven’t put it in there.
I think it’s randomized to try and encourage people to at least look at the roster and consider other options. And also to give people more of a fair chance to grab the hero they want VS some Main/one trick getting the “head start” to pick that Hero.

If I learned anything from new hero releases is that if you want to instalock like a pro, you stick a piece of chewing gum to your monitor on where the new hero is. Bonus points if you have superior internet and an SSD.
But yeah you have a point. Give some breathing room, something else to look at, while doubling as a subtle jab to try something new.

By default I may want to play Mercy or Ana.
But I always try to pick last to see that the hero I select will fit in well with the composition. There isn’t really a need to instalock anymore after the 2/2/2 so we should use this time to see what our teammates pick and go for the best.
Unless you are in QPC in which case higher chances of DPS instalocking or DPS instalocking in general ; w ;
This is based off personal experience and not saying its necessary a bad thing.
It’s nice when people are taking the time to wait for their role partner to pick something out like making some kind of potluck meal.

no randomness about it, might be that Ana is my least used character… i just dont get on with her and shes my least favourite character.
