Is there any way to appeal an account being silenced? I have absolutely no clue why my account got silenced…I generally only play with friends and its extremely odd that I’d be reported for abusive chat. It seems that someone camped my account mass reporting it hours on end to get this result. Considering I have played since the beta version of the game and NEVER have had this happen I call BS on it. A silence on an account is a death sentence to it since communication is the only way to comp on here.
Well if you don’t have a big enough following to light up their social media, I think your best bet is to try opening a support ticket with them cuz they don’t like people talking about punishments on the forums. I dunno what category you’d file it under or what result to expect though
You’re in gold. Comms actually are likely holding you back. You’ll probably go up a rank during the silence.
Also, people can’t individually mass report you. Each account can report you once. Every account will eventually be silenced during a loss streak (when people report you for being on their team).
There might be something to that since I hit plat on tank within a day of getting muted. The ban only appears to be in place for public communication. In other words my party members can still hear me talk if I make a group. I tried solo queing 3-4 games as healer and got absolutely stomped. When I would see flankers dive healers all I can do is sit tight and pray for the best which seems to be the biggest issue at the moment. On other 2 roles I can at least hold my own.
An account silence is temporary and the duration is probably mentioned in the notification email. You should get another email when you’re no longer silenced.
I had a silence about 3 or 4 years ago due to explaining that I was right about everything and everyone else was wrong.
You need to bind the useful commands they added, such as “need help,” “fall back,” “go,” etc. If I get out of position as healer, I’ll hit “need help” as soon as I realize I’m about to be in trouble. No need for voice or chat when I can do it with my keyboard or a swipe of the mouse.
Real talk, as someone that likes to ‘banter’ in-game, it takes a lot to get your account silenced…
You also leave out a lot of context here:
do you play in a 6 stack or just a few friends (meaning randoms are in your team)
do you play heroes the community generally doesn’t like (Sym, Torb, etc…)
do you type in text chat?
do you talk in a neutral way (I literally just had a match where someone asked us to swap in the most toxic way possible and didn’t understand why it was toxic)
You can submit a ticket but don’t expect much, they don’t actually have to ‘show’ evidence from your chat log as to why you were silenced (which is ridiculous imo)…
Assuming??? Assuming Blizzard did not give every single user the power to ban anyone they want with no repercussions? Yes. Yes I am.
It takes max 30 reports to trigger an account action, with no validation whatsoever. It takes 2 minutes for me to report someone 30 times. No one has ever been banned for “false reporting.” Do the math.
