So I’ve been doing a bit of research for a video where I’m finding out what age every character should be. And Junker Queen’s age stuck out to me because in her description on her hero page, it heavily implies she was born after the Australian omnium went boom. I could be wrong about that but it would make zero sense given her age for her to be born after, as other lore sources, like her cinematic reference that she was kicked out at a young age for 13 years. Then following her cinematic, according to the wiki, an email for Overwatch 2’s beta described her as ruling for “a decade” after.
Any number of these things could be incorrect, but if we assume “a decade” is exactly 10 years, she would have been 21 at the time of the cinematic, 8 at the time of being kicked out, and born before the Australian omnium blew up. This is because Overwatch 2 is set in 2077, and the end of the omnic crisis is in 2049. So by these numbers she was born in 2046.
So I’d like to know what you think about this, which set of info is wrong? Should she just be a couple years younger so that she was born after the end of the crisis and ALF attack, or is the email sent out about the beta just incorrect about how long she’s been in power, or was she just born before the omnic crisis? It could also definitely be a combination of these because if she’s younger, then that shot in the cinematic of her leaving would be questionable having like a 4 year old be that tall lol
overwatch with it times and ages is a absolut mess, as the whole lore in of it self.
Like we have the Kiriko age disaster, the Sojourn age debacle, now a potential Widowmaker age problem, Tracer has a questionable time frame etc.
The concept of a time line is basically none existent for the overwatch team.

There is no dates. I don’t know how you get those, but there is no year at all in Overwatch, so don’t base your calculus with those.

not exactly. Around 2016, Michal Chu (THE Narrativ dev) said, that the present day events of overwatch take place around 60 years in the future: 2016 +60 = 2076.
With Overwatch 2 we have a +2 years time skip so we are approximately in 2078.
Yes its not confirmed, but its a good approximation.
and even if we do not use those years and only use “x years ago” we come to the same age problems.
There’s actually a really good explanation for this! Obviously everything is subject to change because the writing for Overwatch is intentionally flimsy but the comment by Michael Chu in 2016 saying Overwatch 1 takes place 60 years in the future, and Jeff Kaplan saying Overwatch 2 takes place a year later fits perfectly with in game evidence on Paraíso. There’s a poster for a Lucio concert on Friday, May 14th which falls on 2077! So unless for some reason the math there is off, the speculation plus evidence in game works out pretty well.
As for the ages, I think everyone got a +2 to their ages because whoever put together the official ages didn’t know Overwatch 2 would take place a year later instead of 2 later, because honestly two years between makes no sense when there’s a bunch of urgent events happening after Recall.

which is its biggest flaw, or rather the root cause of many.
I know of those dates and thoeries because it checks with some dates in game, or with Junkrat’s leap year of birth. The team 4 must have a calendar or accurate numbers, but, they didn’t share it with us. Therefore, it’s better to use the “x years ago” thay gave us, than stating this or this happened in 20xx (imo)
If you are looking at ages, and think JQ is the one with a lot of inacuracies, you should check on Kiriko and her background with the Shimada brothers…
The Queen doesn’t have that big of a problem because she is only related with NPC, which isn’t the case with Kiriko and her childhood with the Genji and Hanzo.
Also, they had to change Sojourn’s age in her biography, because otherwise, her twin sister would have gave birth at 14

She was 8 when she wast cast out, according to her age and the maths you did, that would make her 21 when she came back to Junkertown and became Queen. It works pretty well, even if she looked more like a teenager in the flashback scene because of her punky blue hair, let’s not forget she grew up in an irridiated world.
And I don’t find that the biography implies that she was born after the Crisis. Let’s not forget that the pople that were living there before the omnium was built were displaced, and it could make sense that whe was born in a settlment somewhere before the Crisis broke.
I know some of the ages of other heroes like D.Va and Kiriko are wrong or have changed over time. The writers cant seem to keep the timeline fully accurate.
I doubt that. like how are those age debacles with Sojourn or Kiriko even possible if they use a precise calendar. it is kind of mutually exclusive, thats at least my take.
