I’m really enjoying the game, started this week after watching friends play for a long time. But only 5 days in and I got a message saying my messages had been reported for innapropiate language and that if it continued I would be silenced or banned, but as far as I can tell I haven’t said anything bad. I have accidentally let a cuss slip out when I was in the voice chat but I can’t think of anything else I could have said that warrant this? What are the things I can’t say so I know to avoid them.
“Acceptable Communication”. LMAO Zedong.
Everything and anything is reportable in this game. Blizz says so. Use chat at your own risk, and just hope you dont piss off too many people. If you arent actually annoying, then you should be ok though. Maybe.
Lots of posts like this lately. Did Blizz change something in its reporting system?
Is there going to be a massive ban wave once the next patch drops next week?
If so, it was nice knowing you all.
Well that sucks. I really enjoy interacting with folks. I guess I can just only make call outs then, and maybe get a rubberband around my wrist for my swearing.
This game is full of “can’t handle its”. Settle in or just turn off your chat because it ain’t worth it.
pretty sure if you post enough numbers with dashes in front of them it’s considered too negative in this game.
Did you ask someone to switch heroes? Did you say something like, “Stop feeding,” and didn’t preface it with a speech about how much you care and respect the player? Did you win? Did you say, “Better hero name wins,” or anything remotely of that nature? Did you say gg after you won?
Any of those things and more or less can get you reported and some of them will get you reported. Swearing has already been established that it gets flagged. Voice chat is recorded. Don’t curse at all. At all no matter the context. Speaking of context, remember that it’s irrelevant. Group of players telling a player to kill themselves and you say something to those players, their reports against you count (supposed to count as 1 report, but I’m not convinced that’s the case either).
No matter how tame you might think it is, saying or typing anything is a risk in OW2. If you’re already getting warnings within 5 days of playing, you might want to turn off voice and disable chat. Even that doesn’t stop people reporting you for voiceline, “spam,” or reporting your pings, or reporting you for throwing if they see it that way.
That’s the reality.
EDIT:
I should add that the stuff up there is the light end of things. If you are insulting your team, or the enemy, or being abrasive, or criticizing anything, then you absolutely are heading down a bad road that will get your account penalized.
Should be punishable by death if you ask me.
Kind of is already, no? Death of your account anyway.
Is there any hope this will get better?
Nothing is impossible, but I’d say it’s extremely unlikely. It’s been two and a half years with OW2 - this is the policy Blizzard wants. It’s been reinforced time and time again.
Anything can get you banned in this game if enough people report you, and there’s no cooling down for either the reports or the penalties so every report is one step closer for your account to get permabanned even if you go long periods of time without being reported.
I disabled all chat on my end. When people report you for saying or keying in GG, that was the final straw. You can’t say or key in anything any more without someone being ‘triggered’ in some way. It’s ridiculous. Blizzard being lazy and have an auto report system has killed the game. There’s no way to make friends or communicate without someone screaming you’re ‘toxic’.
the dumbest reason for a report to exist ever.
No argument there.
