Abusive Chat warning when I dont even use chat

Ya that was what I figured in regard to the OP trying to get some details. I don’t think they want to discuss the issue with you, or at least reveal evidence (I’m talking about actual mistaken reports here btw, not people who deserve them for screaming racial slurs and whatnot at people). I would imagine the main reason is that they don’t want you airing it publicly (and I bet people would, and should, if it was a mistake). Luckily none of this has happened to me.

I generally never chat in online games, mostly just because in competitive PvP and esp. ranked games, people have a higher tendency to be toxic due to the intensity/pressure of the game and you can’t reason with an angry person you’ve never met just via text. If we were face to face, that’d be a different story (you can see emotion, facial expressions, hear tone, etc). I’ll rarely say things in OW2 now but only if they’re obviously positive (like if I’m impressed by someone’s skill), and I definitely don’t say anything if someone isn’t playing well since that won’t resolve anything and just make them mad and get me a report (to be clear, I don’t type toxic stuff anyway in any game, it just never comes out well. I’m in my 40s, I’ve had enough time to learn how people react in online gaming, and have had enough lessons learned in my teens/20s to calm myself down in frustrating situations). I just stick to the ping system, and even then just the following:

  1. Ultimate is ready
  2. The 3…2…1… countdown comm line to let the team know I’m going to ult shortly
  3. Pinging an important enemy: A hidden sniper, a flanker, or if our team went to Narnia and one intelligent enemy realized they could just waltz onto the point and take it, I’ll ping them twice to let the team know, and then I’ll do the “I need help” ping thingy as I head back to said point.

I have a feeling though that at some point someone is going to get annoyed with #3 or not know why I’m doing #2 and consider it spamming, but so far nothing has happened. Cross my fingers.
