He is a BULLET sponge. His entire TOOLKIT is designed around BEING A BULLET SPONGE. This character is proof of their lack of direction. this isnt fixed with nerfing he is not fun to fight, like oh wow. lifeweaver. Kiriko. OW2 Bastion. nd some of you think the developers know what people what?
they deleted a whole tank for this. double shield is an issue guys. but no, shooting a character for hours and shooting his ultimate - a massive shield, thats not the same thing as double shield.
It’s one problem to another - which is precisely why 5v5 was NEVER the move. every time i q tank i literally have to play sigma. its misery. and im not putting up with it anymore. let the q times suffer. no more tank.

Im just gonna say. Remember when people said he was weak in the preview week because of Ana, but still decent into other into other teams?
Good times.

He’s unfixable. Twiddling with the numbers to make him work is a waste of effort. The concept is to one-up multiple heroes already in the game, make him the loudest thing in the game so you can’t hear a damned thing, AND OMG SET HIM ON FIRE!!!
If they nerf him to the point that nobody plays him, that’s about the best outcome available.
I’m sitting out until he’s gone.

I wouldn’t normally suggest nerfing a hero to be unplayable, but Mauga is a terrible design. The constant noise, the mundane routine to deal with him (sleep when he hits E, hope kiri suzus then nade, everyone focus, hide). He is exhausting to play against and zero fun to play with or against.
I don’t think they play the game in any meaningful sense when they test new heroes. They have shown with each hero their inability to know what balance is. The t500 streamers read descriptions of the new hero, and once they get patched they read the patch notes and immediately pin-point the problems without even playing the hero. And most of the time they are right.
How can a hero design/balance team not see the same things or have the t500s test the new heroes before dumping them on the rest of us and leaving them broken for weeks at a time.
Their biggest problem is the number of changes they make at a time. Instead of doing 1 buff/nerf and possibly 1 compensating buff/nerf, they throw the kitchen sink at it and make 4-8 changes at once. They have no idea how those changes will interact with each other, never mind how they will interact with other heroes.
Hey, balance team, MAKE 1 CHANGE AT A TIME (with possibly 1 compensation change - so max 2 changes) TO A HERO AND SEE HOW IT GOES THEN MAKE 1/2 MORE CHANGES. The key thing here is ITERATE on the changes.

There wouldn’t been a need for an ult like Cage Fight in 6v6. In another world where 6v6 stayed he has another ultimate.
And there wasnt like 10 reworks to fit the characters in.

He is a 6v6 tank.
CF would a pretty good combo ult in 6v6.

MIG has come pretty good idea. I would take deflector shield instead of cardiac overdrive. That ability would be pretty good for 5v5.
You’re not selling me on this being a 5v5 issue lol.
It sounds like you’re mad at a hero, and want it to be related to another aspect you hate.
He is 100% correct, 5v5 is the issue here.
Rock paper scissors makes it so that you either become very high skill level on 4-5 different tanks, or play a do it all tank like sigma, and in rarer cases zarya.
Every other role except tanks gets to “main” heroes. Often times those players flex, but only to mechanically similar heroes.
Tanks are the only role in the game where you can’t do that, because something like hog, mauga, or bastion come out if you play winston, and if you’re better at maintanks, good luck trying to play rein into him.
Right now in this meta, either you play the immortal raidboss tanks like hog or mauga, which will get nerfed soon forcing you to learn other heroes to the level of your rank, or play sigma which is a snoozefest hero with 3 defensive abilities.
If you want to play winston in gm, you need to also be a GM sigma player, because someone WILL go bastion. Or the whole team will switch to bastion/reaper/hog/undiveable supports, and it doesn’t get punished because if you counter a tank in 5v5, you usually snowball and win the fight.
Lots of tank heroes have become incredibly oppressive or a throw pick in the new 5v5 format. This issue hardly existed in 6v6 which should tell you everything you need to know.
If you still are unable to understand, I could gladly explain it to you again. However, you should know that all arguments pro 5v5 stem from inadequate knowledge or misinformation.
