About the younger audience in Overwatch

  • Why is everyone hating on kids?

If you are 12+ you can play the game . So what’s the problem? They are toxic? Report them . They aren’t toxic but you think their voice is annoying ? You are stupid.

A lot of people forget they were kids once. It’s only when they become old and grandparents that a lot of them get a new perspective on kids.

Why the question, AsianBanana?
You being hated on?

Personally, i am fine with kids. I have 2-3 whom had added me on their Friends list and they frequently invite me to play with them on QP and Arcade. They are all over the place and squeaking on voice comms which i find quite endearing and amusing. Reminds me of my 6 year son when he plays.

I’m the unofficial protector of Squeakers as long as they aren’t toxic. Anyone who groans/growls/shouts into their mic receives no sympathy from me.

My wife considers me a kid in a grown up (aging and broken) body.

My kids consider me as a peer when we play video games and chit chat…

So, idk, man. I just feel like i am temporally misplaced everyday XD

I havent experienced many very young sounding people at all.

but it is, high pitched noises are annoying in general, that’s why all alarm and signaling noises are made that way

Strangely enough, i find the children’s voices endearing except when they scream.

Not oddly is i find voices like that Aria Rose or whatever terrible to bear. Would ball gag if i could.

Right? They’re so eager to do well and my heart breaks when i think about how often they must be bullied just for trying to communicate. Except when they start moaning and groaning.

But to answer you, AB, children as a rule are usually very loud on voice comms and not terribly co-ordinated in game. So when you get someone who is seriously in tryhard mode or just cannot take high pitch voices screaming into voice comms and they encountered kids, well…

Plus, there are adults who dislike children generally and those who think that they are way better than mere kids. So… you get the haters.

Oh I’m sure you would.

Yeah, i know that feel.

I was in a group with 2 kids who added me on Friends List and were happily squeaking away with joy from getting kills. It was just funny and so endearing.

I switched from Rein to Torb, the minute i heard their voices online so that i could just sit back and watch them in action and so that we can get kills from the turret (i’d figured that they probably cannot aim very well). Then i just trailed behind them and kept giving them armour packs and picking off kills.

We lost the QP game but man, it was so cute.

That said, i had to excuse myself after that game because they were going “omg omg omg omg omg omg” waaaay too much and my wife was like wondering what was going on. I was using speakers. XD

They are much more prevalent on consoles, but PC gets a fair share too. And in general, they fill the lower brackets more than the higher ones.

That being said, I never discriminate based on age. I had amazing teenage players in my games, as well as some toxic ones too. They are statistically no different than adult players other than having a squeekier voice.

Not bad, but when I read it I automatically thought of:

I couldn’t care less about someone’s age.
All i care about is the hero they’re playing.

Once upon a time, when Overwatch came out, it was the most casual-friendly shooter-type game in the market.

All could play it. There were heroes that fitted every playstyle. It was inclusive.

Kids, older people, those with physical disabilities, women… all found a place in OW and fell in love with the game.

Which is why the game had one of the most diverse populations and was more popular than any other FPS.

Then the able bodied young teens/young adults that could not make it in CoD or CS:GO came to the game and started making ever more demands for ‘skilled’ heroes, and systematically decrying any ‘braindead’ heroes (aka heroes that are not totally dependent on aim). Which means they do their best to exclude and alienate anyone that isn’t like them .

At the end of the day, the game would have been much better if the CoD/CS:GO rejects had just adapted to Overwatch, instead of trying to turn it into the exact thing they are no good at and ruin everything for the casual/very young/not young/not able-bodied player.

Because, let’s face it, if the ‘skill’ advocates were really as ‘skilled’ as they wish they were… they’d be playing CoD or CS:GO.

The '60s or retro '60s jazzy sounding beats are the best, for sure.

Cowboy Bebop was so excellent. I assumed you caught Samurai Champloo as well?
Classics.

It’s very simple.
A number of people think they can reach OWL potential if they’re not “sabotaged” and yet end up matched against 12 year olds. Which they then blame for not being Grand Master.
Oh and incidentally they also blame female players, and anyone playing Brig (even if they play Brig themselves) and Blizzard for “nerfing their main”.

The fact that they’re not Grand Master material never enters their brain.
