My friends and I talked about that earlier. I heard a few content creators saying, that it’s mostly like not really a reset bcs you most likely end up in your previous rank. Maybe you’ll get pushed up because of the new champion rank.
Wouldn’t it be better, if they do a full reset?
Like MMR too? MMR is playing a big role in Overwatch, so this kind of reset isn’t really a reset when you’re back in your old rank (most likely) again. If Blizz wants to reset everything… They really need to reset the hidden MMR too.

They should’ve reset everything when OW2 Launched. Like, back to the start of original overwatch. This “reset” now is more like: “We removed you’re rank from last season because you need to do Placements again and congrats - you’re staying the same rank.”
I would say that the reset would only make sense if they actually put a work to separate casuals and competitive crowd.
When you have too much similarity and lack of options for the players, you get both crowds on both modes messing up with both matchmaking and consistencies.
When they launched the OW2, wouldn’t solve the issue due qp and comp being too similar. Which always were the problem for folks playing both modes.
So, in the end. Unless they actually make QP and Comp become different things, this will not solve much on the long run.

They really should ignore that for some point and just reset everything so that everyone starts at zero. It would be a mess in Ranked when it starts, but good players will climb fast.

I cant wait to play 10 Placements again just to get the same rank. I would be kinda excited to get placed somewhere else bcs of a full reset and use that outcome to grind. But yea… Guess that will never happen, bcs hidden mmr will not be touched by any means.
I would argue, that even an MMR reset, wouldn’t matter much on the long run.
Having casuals playing comp for fun and folks practicing on qp for comp. Is a recipe to disaster.
While having unranked mode warm-up to comp, using the mmr of comp. Should be a thing. The game mode should be completely different from QP to avoid folks go on the wrong mode to do their objective.
Casual modes aims to having fun while trying to win, while Competitive modes aims to win by pushing you to your limits. Competitive doesn’t have fun as goal, while some folks can get fun on it tho.
Take OW1 release and take the OW2 release. Both situations folks played as easy most of the time, due knowing that eventually comp would be released. When comp dates were announced, folks started to become really competitive on qp. Then, comp released and folks even today don’t know what to do on each for most of the time.
What messes, most of the time, the matchmaking is matching folks with different mindsets, not different skills.
Mh. Okay. I heard flats saying that it’s most likely the case, we’re getting pushed up like in season 4 and masters could end up in GM and all that. (was it season 4? )
I really hope for a completely reset. I hope it’s true I wouldn’t even mind when they put me into gold or smth when the matches are good. I just want to have better games.
I want a rank reset. I want Blizz to look at my accounts specifically and decide I belong in a lower rank. I want to play support in ranked again. 20 min queues aren’t cutting it.

They basically are but most will end up right back where they were within a few games, and some outliers might take about 50, because you are the rank you deserve. You will play games and end up right back where you were. The GMs will soar back to GM with the top 500 soaring to Champion. The Masters will of course reach Masters and etc. etc. etc.
Yeah, of course a lot of people will reach their old ranks soon. But it would get rid of the boosted ones and don’t forget the bought accounts and stuff.
Of course, boosting will always be a thing and it would happen again. But it would be still a fresh start where everyone needs to work his way up again. I really don’t know… I have really high hopes. But we’ll see I guess.
I have one account in bronze and another in gold. Both have been these ranks since S4. I played the gold account yesterday. Won 5 games and gold 3. It’s not like it’s lacking games. I had a bug on the bronze account that screwed my SR.
I mean the boosted ones fall anyway unless they are getting continuously boosted every season. Decay takes care of that problem. That basically leaves you with the people who say with a straight face “Plats and GMs are equally good at OW but the system is forcing me to stay in Plat”.
The might be. I would act on what they do and not what you think they’re going to do, because if there’s anything I’ve learned since OW2 is what they say and what they do have very little relation to each other.
Considering I want green weapons now it’s going to be an interesting time in comp for a while.
It wouldn’t change anything, but I still think they should do it just to confirm to people that it won’t change anything. People make a thousand new accounts anyway and just end up where they always end up so yea.
