I have not played comp since mid way through overwatch 1. I thought hey I’ll give it a go again when the drive event happened, did alright placed in plat4 climbed to plat2 then last 3-4 days of season 12 I dropped down to gold1.
Start of season 13 things are hit and miss drop to gold2 then up to plat5, but lately its just all down hill, multiple defeats with maybe a win here and there.
Now I’m down to gold 5 and I’m just at the point of thinking no matter what there is no escape, no climbing, its just a constant sinking ship.
Just no hope getting higher ever, just a endless fall in a pit of despair.

Welcome to the world of overwatch two. A wet wipe may drop by and tell you that it’s your fault and that the game is magnificent and perfect without any errors or problems. You will have many people that will sympathize, but there is a small minority of people who will just stand by this game to the end and deny that there’s any problems at all. Competitive at this point in time is an absolute trash game. If you really want to enjoy overwatch just stick to quick play. If you really want changes to the game, stop buying skins and purchasing battle passes. The only way this game will change is if it’s not profitable to continue along the path they’re going right now. I will never buy another battle pass or skin as long as the game does not change the MMR/SR ranking system. I wish there were more people that would do the same.
Depends if you have the competitive fight in you, OP. It’s not for everyone and that’s okay. For example instead of despair why not spend that energy in aim practice sessions for a small period of your normal session and maybe do some homework on positioning or similar? Focus on working on your weakest aspects of play and try to bring them up for a period then focus on the things you are good at and try to make them better, switch again, etc.
Don’t get too disheartened by a small setback as dropping from gold 2 to gold 5 isn’t even a huge distance. What do you think you should be working on first? 
Man, it won;t help. It’s about a strange matchmaking magic that creates one team where no one gets a single kill and the other team gets 30 and they smash you. Nothing helps.
I’ve got the same and after 6 years of playing this game i am fed up of this bs.
To win a game became impossible.
No matter what you do and how you try - because other 4 teammates suck as well…

Have you tried anything to improve? I’d probably think you are somewhere under gold if you have answered no to the above. It’s these ranks that are all about luck because the matchmaker can’t predict games in that range, because so many refuse to put effort into improving and learning the game. the only solution for them is an LLM model where you can buy your rank.
