The biggest proof that OW1 is far superior to OW2 is the 2020 update.
Most heroes are difficult to play and require real skill. There are no ridiculous hitboxes or oversized projectiles, no automatic health regeneration, no role passives, no inflated health pools. There’s nothing in the game designed to make things easier.
Doomfist isn’t as dangerous as people think. One small CC and he’s done for. If he doesn’t play correctly, even the uppercut plus slam combo can’t keep him alive. Doomfist should definitely be a DPS and stay that way.
This event showed us that CCs are necessary for this game. It showed us that OW1 demands more skill and strategy. It showed us that tanks are not immortal beings. They can easily be taken down when played against properly.
The 2CP mode and its maps were also very enjoyable and fun. Compared to the push-the-robot mode, 2CP was much better.
In short, yes, OW1 was much better.
I wish all the changes introduced with OW2 would be reversed, and that we could return to this version permanently, with the OW2 heroes reworked to fit into it.
For a gold player like me I have never struggled to identify sounds in ow2. If you want we could talk about how ow1 was 6v6, 2 extra players per match that convoluted the sounds a lot more than sfx upgrades XD
I dunno, if you like your games to be more difficult, that’s fine. I like them to be more fun.
I mean, if you want to play a game that’s more difficult, with smaller hitboxes and etc etc whatever you said, go play something like CS2. My guess is though you will cry and come back to OW, because CS is too difficult for you.
It did get balance patches and other additions though. And it was still better than OW2.
The stylized visuals were timeless and the sounds fit the game perfectly, no reason to change them. OW2 got a slight visual “upgrade” in exchange for horrible performance.
I would ban all OW2 heroes in every match if I could. None of them bring anything interesting into the matches, only annoyance and suffering.
Hard agree on this, I vented frustration when they said they were gonna pull back on CC not realising That mobility characters take this as a huge buff aka tracer/sojourn
What? So you’d also have more fun playing with an aimbot because it also compensates for your lack of skill? Do you play mario kart with steering assist?
I mean, I always knew OW2 was heavily dumbing down the game for simpler people…
What? How is that equal to everyone having bigger hitboxes? You understand, I ALSO have a bigger hitbox as well, right?
OW has done that since launch, in 2016. That’s like, it’s primary goal. Have you ever played mercy? I can’t aim, but I CAN be top 500 if I stand next to someone and hold down the left mouse button.
As someone who didn’t play OW1 and has actively hated 6v6 and all the other classic releases I’m excited to give this one a try and see how it feels for me!
Oh, I’m sure you can always find one or two here and there, according to your phrasing, that’s where you want the conversation to go. But almost everyone from that era has quit the game. We were replaced by a new playerbase.
Current OW2 is better than the RQ version of OW1 by a lot. RQ is what wrecked OW1.
I promise people still labeled most of the roster as no-skill heroes back in October 2020. I do agree we need more CC, though, and I also miss 2CP, but I still like the new modes.
