I don’t understand why people are requesting to name change the hero, maybe because you know how is Jesse McCree right? But how can you compare him IRL and IGM? (In real life and In game.) Also that he got fired irl.
im not saying im defending him or agreeing with these people who want a name change, but someone tell me why is this gonna happen?

I think the idea is that anytime people see the name McCree now they will think of the scandal.
We don’t know if it is going to happen for sure or not. But if it does happen, you know why. You know exactly why. Why are you even asking a question you know the answer to?
While that may be true, I think that’s just a band-aid fix: the name is fine (it’s just a name after all). If anything, this name should stay and become its own legacy.
It’s like people named Stalin, Adolf, or Hannibal; it’s their name, their legacy, why should they change it because of the actions of another named similarly?

Who cares about some character name tho? It doesn’t help anyone and it changes the focus from the victims to something ultimately irrelevant

Yeah, but why asking me? xD I personaly can see, why people wanna change his name and I also understand, why not. I am pretty neutral in this case - tho I understand both sides.
Its on par with the morons who were asking for the police skins to be removed.
It unfortunately might. People are dumb, and its been shown repeatedly in any given age there is an emotional response rather than one of reason applied.

Anytime I think of McCree I think of Flashbang.
It would take a lot more effort to retcon the entire character, all of the associated VO, the shorts, the lore, etc than it did to change the noose spray.
The character is FAR more well known. If they change his name, a lot of people who are just gamers and don’t follow video game news and drama will wonder why. It’ll just call more attention to a man who deserves no more attention (he’s fired, done, will never work in the industry again). And everyone would just keep calling him McCree anyway, because that’s the character’s name. Has been since he was revealed in 2014.
Let this scandal die. Don’t immortalize it by changing an innocent character’s name.
I main McCree as a DPS. I love him. Don’t punish a character for some man’s stupid choices.
