A very stupid question

This question isn’t about Overwatch as a game- it about Ashe’s name pronunciation. So if English is your first language maybe you can help me out.
So, when they released Ashe with the new short, I thought:
wow, what a cool new hero. ASHEE is such a cool name. I don’t know why I decided that the singe ‘e’ on the end of her name means that it’s pronounced like 'Ashee", but now I can’t speak it correctly because every time I see the ‘e’ I just say it like ‘ee’ (I mean like in the word 'eel").
Anyone wants to explain why her name isn’t just simply ‘Ash’? Is there a difference in pronunciation with that ‘e’ at the end? Please help me out, I’m too stupid for this game honestly

The E is pronounced differently with a SH before the E.

Ash is an object, to differentiate the person from the object an extra letter was added.

The “E” is silent, to a degree. Instead of saying “Ash”, like in “Ash Ketchum”, her name is “Ashe”, so it’s more like “Asssshhhh”.

Thank you for explainations, but in my mind it will stay as Ashee forever

She and Ashe

True. I shouldn’t try to explain english when it’s not my first language. Pardon.

Because it’s based off of an actual existing name. There’s history behind how people pronounce it in the real world.

h ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashe

Its kinda like Pneumonia, the “p” is silent, just like the “e” in Ashe. I was told that Ashe is the female version and Ash is the male version.

In Ashe the e is silent. The e is there so it can be viewed as a name.
