We’ve had 5 years and a huge library of 3rd party tutorials as teachers. At this point it comes down to player stubbornness and stupidity. People want to go out of their way to make the game harder for themselves because the average gamer does not understand or respect team activities. From day one OW was a team based game and the majority of the community including some of the louder voices repeatedly spit in the face of that. The player mindset is what needs to change and at this point punishing them harder for not respecting the game for what it is might be the only solution left.
The problem is that easy to play heroes are too strong. Simple as that.
Do both of these and I guarantee they’ll drop by at least 5%.
- Makes them harder as a combo
- Allows people to understand you’re not supposed to play orisa like a reinhardt.
And while they’re at trying to balance it out. Add 125hp to orisas barrier. Revert the halt cooldown buff.
Making it mandatory is unlikely to actually help, but we still need proper tutorials.
Some basic core tutorials + frequently updated state of the meta vids by OWL players/staff would be ideal imo. And for all the whiners, yes it has to be OWL. Exposure -> money so blizz might actually do a good job for once.
You cannot add in permeant tutorials for things like compositions and strategies because they change over time.
Team comps and strategies are things the community comes up with over time. Imagine a tutorial created with launch day comp and strategies in use today: it would be useless now. Or imagine a tutorial showing how to run GOATS when that was popular. And every new character added to the game changes the viability of all those strategies in unexpected ways.
A tutorial should show different things (such as some heros are faster or stronger or have CC) and maybe show how those are useful to counter other things (maybe show you how Dva can ‘eat’ an entire reaper ult and save your team)
We are at the point where some things have remained consistently strong. Like grouping, not staggering, reseting. You know how often some clown thinks I am throwing because I jumped off the map to not feed hundreds of hp worth of ultimate charge, while also allowing myself a free vape to get closer to my ult? A basic tutorial is 5 years late, but its never too late.
Double Sniper tutorial?

If there was a tutorial explaining double bubble (Zarya/Winston) strategy for the past two years people would flame the heck out of it.
Tutorials can’t keep up with metas, that’s something you have to keep up with and learn by playing the game.
