A small little Reinhardt tip for my fellow Crusaders

You probably know this already, but it doesn’t hurt to share information here and there:

If you shield your team from dynamite, your shield will start to burn, but if you quickly lower it and then raise it again, it won’t suffer the burn damage.

Feel free to leave more tips in this thread.

You are ruining the fun of watching people panic.

Something I don’t see Reins doing enough:

You can clear Hammond Mines by walking through them with your shield.

if a tracer pulse bombs your shield, you can clip it into the wall and it will do no damage

I guess some people just want to see the world burn.

You have no idea how badly I want to see it burn.

You can also clear them with Ashes dynamite.

I hope Rein will drop into F tier one day  he’s ruining the game…

There is a reason why my default voice line for Ashe is the “burn it all down”

I love this tip because I see a lot of people don’t know it.

I do like this tip tho.

Don’t charge, ever. It’s the worst idea so just don’t. I actually told one of my friends on PS4 who is a tank player stuck in silver to unbind charge then rebind it in a couple games, that way he doesn’t use it to often and can see how much longer he lives without using it.

I guess this doesn’t work if she pulse bombs it right in the middle?

That’s really bad advice. It’s better to help them learn when they should charge.

I would win Rein vs Rein duels every time if the other Rein didn’t have charge bound. You need to charge Doomfist/Brig/and Rein to cancel their attack and knock them down. If I charge a Rein and he doesn’t charge back, it’s usually a secured kill on the Rein unless he gets a lot of support from his team. Conversely, I usually die if I don’t charge back.

I mainly used it as a way to stop my friend from over using charge. It can be useful but it can also completely screw your team. It was only for 2 games and now he uses it well.

It is hard to break a habit and I got him to tell me when he should be charging after the games. Plus the 2 games he played didn’t have an enemy Rein or DF so it wasn’t like he was throwing.

I do see where you are coming from however but it was the only way I saw that could help him improve.

Can I post a tip as a Mercy main?

If we are advancing and there’s a Widow on the enemy team, keep your gosh danged cotton pickin’ shield UP.

If you feel the need to firestrike, which then causes someone to get picked, I will go the whole match waiting to see you perish.

That is all.

or just by swinging at them and slowly walking through

You need to know when to charge. I like to use it when enemies are crossing the street, maybe you can figure out what I mean with this.

Charge is also an amazing scare tactic, and very good for corners where you know you aren’t going to die.
Charging into the enemy team is not a good use of it, you need to be creative, it’s more of a predictive ability imo.

Not a bad idea unbinding it though, it can be very tempting to use.

This is too simplistic a description for why Reinhardt my be casting Firestrike. Firestrike gives Reinhardt aprox. 7.5% ult charge per hero hit. This is not an insignificant amount of ult charge.

“But, Reinhardt used it and someone died.”
What percentage of Shield health did Reinhardt have when he dropped shield to cast Firestrike?
Did Reinhardt secure a kill with Firestrike?
Was Firestrike able to displace the sniper?
Was Firestrike able to kill the sniper? (If it was, said sniper will move in any direction whenever Reinhardt lowers his shield again.)
What were you doing at the time the shield went down?

I could list off many more questions, but here’s the thing. I have to ask myself these questions every time I lower my shield. I do not exist to facilitate your bad decisions. No, I do not play 100% correct 100% of the time. If I make a mistake, which does happen, then I have to prepare to accept the consequences of that mistake. I hold myself to that standard, and expect the rest of my team to do the same.

You used to be able to jump in the middle of them and just spin, but I’m quite sure that they fixed it and if you go into them backwards they will damage you.

Other tip against the mines: shatter does enough to break the mines, so if the enemy team feels confident behind a wall of mines, you can both surprise them and clear the field.
